For Your Eyes Only:
Time to Switch from Eyeglasses to Contacts?

by Angela Johnson, CCPOA Benefit Trust

For Your Eyes Only: Time to Switch from Eyeglasses to Contacts? As someone who wears eyeglasses constantly, I think I speak for many others out there when I say that contact lenses would make life much simpler. This time of year is the worst for eyeglass wearers. Have you ever been running to your car in the rain and by the time you finally unlock your door and get in the dry front seat you look up and you can't see through your wet, spotted glasses? You try to dry them off but can't because your clothes are just as wet. Well, contact lenses may be the answer to this and many other problems that come along with wearing eyeglasses. And you can consider yourself lucky when you hear about the new benefit Vision Service Plan has to offer.

As an active CCPOA member, you have a rich eye-care benefit through VSP, a plan that includes an eye exam every 12 calendar months, lenses every 12 months, and frames every 24 months on the first and second pair benefit. (If you need help finding an eye doctor in your area call VSP at (800) 877-7195 or visit www.vsp.com. Also, to find out if you're eligible for new frames, lenses, or an eye exam, visit the VSP website or contact your existing eye doctor.)

Did you know that if you go in for an eye exam and buy contacts for your first pair of lenses you will have no copay? But here's the best part. If you also choose contact lenses for your second pair, you still will not have a copay! It sounds unbelievable but it's true. Take advantage of this great offer brought to you by VSP and enjoy two new pairs of contact lenses.

Finding Contacts That are Right for You
To find contacts that do their job right, you will have to speak with an eye care professional. During your routine exam, talk to your eye doctor about what prescription best fits your daily routine. There are many different types of contact lenses, such as soft lenses, rigid gas permeable, disposables, and even bifocals, so make sure you talk to your doctor about all the possibilities, and choose the type that is best for you.

Contact Lens Exam
Contact lenses do not fit everyone the same and each person needs the perfect prescription to get the full effect of how great contacts can be. Getting a routine eye exam will help keep your eyes healthy and effective for life. If you wear eyeglasses, your routine eye exam is not much work. However, contacts are different. Contacts rest right on the eye and need to be fitted properly to ensure a comfortable fit. Remember, getting a contact lens exam is essential to getting the quality vision that you deserve.

VSP is bringing you a great deal on contact lenses. Take advantage of it and visit your eye doctor today. Remember, you can choose two pairs of contacts instead of eyeglasses and save money.
