CCPOA - Supervisory Division

Our Mission Statement:
CCPOA active members fall into two categories, Rank and File Members and Supervisory Members. Rank and File members are those deemed to be in the rank and file bargaining unit, for Unit Six of the Collective Bargaining Units established by the State of California, Public Employment Relations Board in its Unit Determination Decision, case number S-R/56-S, (PERB Decision 110C-S), (1980), or that decision as it may be amended or superseded by the PERB. Supervisory Members are those employees of the State of California excluded from the rank and file unit, defined as supervisory, managerial, and confidential in Government Code Sections 3513 (e), (f) and (g) and 3527, and who are employed by CDC, CYA, or DMH as peace officers in the chain of command for Unit 6 rank and file members.
CCPOA maintains an annual "Supervisory or Excluded Employee Organization" registration with the California State Secretary and the Department of Personnel Administration, to represent Supervisory Members, in accordance with the above laws.
Supervisory Members enjoy all rights and privileges of active members in CCPOA, including the right to vote and run for office (including chapter president), except as specifically limited or described in the CCPOA Bylaws or Standard Operating Procedures Manual, and state law.
Founded in 1957, CCPOA has continued to represent correctional peace officer supervisory members within the definition as defined in the California Penal Code or by authorization of CDC/CYA's Director(s).
Under the Excluded Employee Bill of Rights, CCPOA has the right to represent supervisory members in their employment relations, including grievances, with the State of California. The scope of representation for supervisory employees includes all matters relating to employment conditions and supervisory employer-employee relations including wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment. This includes the full services of the legal, legislative, labor and logistic offices of CCPOA in all work related and administrative matters.
CCPOA has gained more than 40 benefits for its supervisors. It has increased salary and retirement benefits for supervisors, bringing their compensation in line with other law enforcement professionals in California, sponsored legislation requiring in-depth pre employment background investigations, the creation of first and second line supervisory academies, CPOST oversight, more and better training and equipment. CCPOA has also obtained needed safety equipment for supervisors including batons, pepper spray, and stab-proof vests, which have saved at least 42 peace officers from death or serious harm.
California Correctional Peace Officers Association Supervisory members are the men and women who are dedicated, proud, and courageous law enforcement professionals who walk and supervise the toughest beat in California.
