Alleged parole agent shooter faces attempted murder charge
A parolee arrested in the shooting of a parole officer in Lake View Terrace will be charged with attempted murder of a police officer, authorities said Thursday.
Steven Hoff, 45, evaded officers after he shot and seriously wounded a patrol agent Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. He was arrested in Lake View Terrace after an hours-long manhunt that shut down part of the busy 210 Freeway and forced two schools to be locked down.
Law enforcement officers were looking for the suspect Wednesday because he had allegedly violated his parole. They were near a trailer in Lake View Terrace when they heard gunfire about 1:30 p.m., and a parole agent was struck in the face...

Man suspected of shooting parole agent identified by sources
Law enforcement officials have identified a man suspected of shooting a parole agent Wednesday in Lake View Terrace as Steven Hoff.
Hoff, 43, has a history of burglary and weapons possession convictions and was sentenced to state prison before he was released and put on parole in January 2011, according to multiple law enforcement officials who spoke to The Times.
His parole was suspended in July, which typically means that he broke contact with his parole officer, according the officials, who asked not to be named because the investigation was ongoing...

Suspect in parole agent’s shooting has ‘significant’ criminal past

A parolee is believed to have shot a parole agent in the face in Lake View Terrace, police said Wednesday as they continued to search for the gunman in the northeast San Fernando Valley, closing part of the 210 Freeway in both directions.
