Man charged with murder in 2011 stabbing death
The primary suspect in last year’s fatal stabbing of a 31-year-old Oakland man near Anderson City Hall has been charged with murder and a series of criminal enhancements by the Shasta County district attorney’s office.
Vincent Gino Chavez Jr., 30, of San Jose is charged with one count of murder in the Aug. 13 stabbing death of Sue Eian Saeturn, 31.
He’s also charged with six enhancements, including street terrorism, criminal street gang activity and being a prior felon, according to electronic Shasta County Superior Court records...

Preliminary Hearing for Murder Suspect in Culver City Double Homicide
A preliminary hearing is scheduled today at the Airport Branch courthouse for Zackariah Lehnen.
Lehnen, a 31-year-old transient, is charged with fatally stabbing 89-year-old Lucien Bergez and 27-year-old Erica Escobar, whose bodies were found in Berger’s Culver City home on May 3, 2011.

An ongoing cold-case investigation into the 1998 shooting death of a female prison guard near the 91 Freeway in Anaheim led to an arrest warrant for a fourth suspect, authorities said Tuesday.

An 81-year-old Half Moon Bay man and convicted murderer was arrested March 1 for a parole violation after trying to get his hands on a gun, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Clyde Wilson Sheets was arrested on Bloom Lane, where he lives, after allegedly asking an acquaintance where to find a gun which was enough to land the convicted felon in jail on suspicion of a parole violation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a suspect in Sunday’s fatal stabbing of a Hesperia teen in Apple Valley.
Clarence Hogue, a 26-year-old transient and parolee, was arrested late this morning on a local transit bus in Victorville, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. He was taken into custody without incident.

Husband, 2 others arrested in 1998 slaying of prison guard
Cold-case detectives Monday arrested the husband of a prison guard who was shot to death on a freeway off-ramp in Anaheim in 1998, six months after he took out a $1 million life insurance policy on his wife.

Lynwood Shooting Victim Declared Dead
A good Samaritan shot at a Lynwood meat market during a weekend robbery has died, authorities said today. George Alvarado, 43, of Lynwood died about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Medical Center, said coroner's Chief Craig Harvey.
Alvarado was one of two good Samaritans shot about 7 p.m. Sunday in the 11800 block of Atlantic Avenue, the Sheriff's Department reported. The other survived.

Murderer paroled to Susanville area found dead from hanging
Convicted killer, Loren Herzog was found dead around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to corrections officer Terry Thornton.
Thornton said the parole agency supervising Herzog was alerted when his GPS device had a low battery. When officials checked on Herzog at his trailer just outside of the High Dessert State prison property, they found him hanging.

34-year-old Anthony David Yee had just been released from prison when prosecutors say he strangled his mother, Judith Nathan, in Chico on December 19th. Authorities say Yee broke in, waiting for her in the dark when she came home, before killing her by strangling and attacking her with a hammer. Authorities say he then hid her body in her septic tank.

A Southern California teen who pleaded guilty to killing a gay classmate was sentenced Monday to 21 years in prison.
Brandon McInerney, 17, will serve time in a juvenile detention center until he turns 18, at which point he will be transferred to the custody of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He will get no credit for time already served, and was ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution.
In September, a judge declared a mistrial in the case of McInerney after a nine week trial when jurors said they were hopelessly deadlocked on whether he should be found guilty of manslaughter or murder in the death of Lawrence King. He was set to be retried as an adult...

Seven years after Alfredo Montez Valenzuela climbed through a window of an elderly couple's home and brutally stabbed them to death, a jury Wednesday found the Monrovia parolee guilty of first-degree murder.
