It has come to our attention that a few chapter ballots, being mailed to CCPOA for counting, have been sent back to the addressee by the postal service. If this should happen to your ballot please do the following;
- Please cross out your address that is printed on the back side of the envelope.
- DO NOT cross out the bar code also printed on the back side of the return envelope.
- Resend the envelope through the US Mail.

Intent to Run Forms
CCPOA Benefit Trust Fund
The CCPOA Benefit Trust Fund will hold an election for one (1), three (3) year trustee position during the upcoming CCPOA Convention (to be held August 17-18, 2011, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.) The term of this office will be from January 1, 2012, through December 31, 2015. The election will take place on August 18, 2011. The nomination period is now open and will close on June 29, 2011.
Executive Council - State President
The position up for election at the CCPOA 2011 Convention in August 2011 is STATE PRESIDENT. The term of office is January 1, 2012, through December 31, 2014. Notice of Intent to Run for Executive Council forms must be submitted to the CCPOA State Secretary no sooner than April 20, 2011, and no later than June 29, 2011.

Chuck alexander re-elected with 90% of delegate vote
Incumbent Chuck Alexander will continue as executive vice president of the California Correctional Peace Officers Association after winning nearly 90 percent of 429 delegate votes this morning.
According to Bob Walsh, our man on the ground at CCPOA's convention at the Rio All-Suite Hotel in Las Vegas, Alexander opponents Charlie Mohammed received 41 votes and Walter Tucker netted eight votes.
Walsh, a CCPOA retiree who writes for the Paco Villa Corrections Blog, said that Mohammed told assembled delegates that "a vote for Charlie is a vote for cop killers" before he walked out of the convention...

Jimenez recall fizzles at CCPOA convention
A much-rumored effort to oust California Correctional Peace Officers Association President Mike Jimenez has fizzled at the union's Las Vegas convention.
CCPOA retiree Bob Walsh, a prolific contributor to the Paco Villa Corrections Blog, is attending the two-day meeting at the Rio All-Suite Hotel in Las Vegas and called us with the news.
"A recall vote never even surfaced," Walsh said. "No motion was made."
Jimenez also told the convention that he will not resign, Walsh said. Some union watchers had speculated that the 49-year-old Jimenez would step down over health concerns...

Schwarzenegger: Lawmakers, voters get budget blame
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday pointed the finger at lawmakers and California voters for the $6 billion deficit in the state budget he signed just a month ago.
The Republican governor sought to deflect blame for the deficit, even though the rosy revenue assumptions he and lawmakers used were widely reported when they approved the $86.6 billion spending plan and Schwarzenegger signed it on Oct. 8.
"I think that the Legislature, as you know, did not finish their job the last time," he told reporters Friday. He said he proposed $12.5 billion in cuts, but they agreed to cut only $7.5 billion...

New GOP leader elected in Assembly
Assemblywoman Connie Conway has been elected leader of the Assembly Republican Caucus.
The caucus' 28 members, including 11 freshman members elected Tuesday, unanimously voted to elect Conway, of Tulare, to the post after Republican leader Martin Garrick decided to step down.
The change in leadership comes just days after Assembly Republicans lost control of a state legislative seat held by the GOP for more than twenty years. In an election marked by gains for Republicans nationwide, the caucus failed to pick up any seats in the state Assembly...

The Governor’s election is finally over. Thank you to all of our members who sacrificed their personal time to assist in the campaign. The first step has been taken, now it’s time for the second. It’s not time to rest. One foot in front of the other – repeat as necessary.
On a side note, it is refreshing not to see the constant television ads that have flooded the airways over the last year...
