Schwarzenegger appoints wardens at CEN, CTF, FOL, and Mahoney as Supt. at Preston
Gov. Schwarzenegger Announces Appointments
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the following appointments:
Domingo Uribe, 53, of Wildomar, has been appointed warden of Centinela State Prison (CEN). He has been acting warden at CEN since 2009 and was previously chief deputy warden from 2008 to 2009. From 2005 to 2008, Uribe was correctional administrator at R.J. Donovan Correctional Training Facility in San Diego. From 2001 to 2005, he served as ombudsman for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation headquarters. From 1995 to 2001, Uribe was a correctional lieutenant at Pelican Bay State Prison, where he previously served as a correctional counselor I from 1990 to 1995. He was a correctional sergeant at Richard A. MeGee training facility from 1988 to 1990. Previously, Uribe worked at the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad as a correctional officer from 1983 to 1987 and a correctional sergeant from 1987 to 1988. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $129,108. Uribe is a Democrat.
Timothy Mahoney, 63, of Sacramento, has been appointed superintendent of the Preston Youth Correctional Facility. He has served as acting superintendent of the Preston Youth Correctional Facility since 2006, and previously held the positions of assistant superintendent administrator for rehabilitative services from 2004 to 2006, youth authority administrator in 2004, assistant superintendent administrator for rehabilitative services from 2001 to 2004, and assistant director of labor relations, employee assistance and safety from 1997 to 2001. Prior to that, he was appointed the principal labor relations officer for the Department of Personnel Administration from 1995 to 1997. In 1995, he was a lieutenant at California Youth Authority. From 1982 to 1995, Mahoney was chief administrative officer of the California Correctional Peace Officers Association. He worked at the California Youth Authority as lieutenant from 1981 to 1982, senior youth correctional counselor from 1978 to 1981 and youth correctional counselor from 1973 to 1978. From 1967 to 1970, Mahoney served in the U.S. Army. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $125,892. Mahoney is a Republican.
Rick Hill, 51, of Rocklin, has been appointed warden of Folsom State Prison (FSP). He has been acting warden at FSP since 2009 and was chief deputy warden in 2009. Hill was associate warden of health care services at California State Prison, Sacramento (CSPS) from 2006 to 2009 and was acting associate warden from 2005 to 2006. Hill was facility captain at CSPS from 2004 to 2005, correctional captain from 2002 to 2004, correctional lieutenant from 1995 to 2002 and, a member of the Special Emergency Response Team from 1993 to 1995. From 1989 to 1993, Hill was a correctional sergeant at FSP and, from 1984 to 1985, correctional officer at the Deuel Vocational Institution. He is vice president of the Antique Fan Collectors Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $129,108. Hill is registered decline-to-state.
Randolf Grounds, 55, of Tehachapi, has been appointed warden of the Correctional Training Facility, where he has been acting warden since 2009. In 2009, he was chief deputy warden at California State Prison, Solano. From 2007 to 2009, Grounds was correctional administrator at Salinas Valley State Prison, Level III and IV facility, where he also served as acting chief deputy warden and chief disciplinary officer. From 2004 to 2007, Grounds was facility captain at California Correctional Institution. From 2002 to 2004, Grounds was correctional counselor III with the Classification Services Unit at the California Correctional Institution. Grounds was correctional counselor III with the Classification Services Unit, Division of Adult Institutions from 2000 to 2002. From 1996 to 2000, Grounds was correctional counselor II supervisor at California State Prison, Los Angeles. From 1996 to 1996, he was correctional counselor II specialist at California State Prison, Los Angeles. From 1991 to 1996, Grounds was correctional counselor I at the California Correctional Institution. Grounds was a deputy probation officer II for the El Dorado County Probation Department in 1988. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $129,108. Grounds is registered decline-to-state.
