Gilroy: Parolee surrenders after six-hour standoff with police
A 36-year-old Gilroy man wanted on a no-bail felony parole warrant ended a six-hour standoff with police on Wednesday night by walking out of a house after negotiators persuaded him to surrender, according to police.
Members of the Gilroy Police Department's anti-crime team set out Wednesday to find Anthony Villalobos, who was wanted on a no-bail parole violation and other warrants. Police went looking for Villalobos after learning from multiple sources that he was in possession of a handgun, according to Sgt. Chad Gallacinao.
Villalobos, who goes by the nickname "Torpedo," was spotted by police about 3:45 p.m. near a residence in the 800 block of Welburn Avenue. He fled into the home of an acquaintance and attempted to escape out the back door and over fences, according to police...
