CCPOA Interim Supervisory Vice President Introduction
To: CCPOA Board of Directors
All CCPOA Supervisory Members
From: CCPOA Interim Supervisory Vice President,
Kevin Raymond
Dear Supervisory Member,
As the recent appointee to the CCPOA Interim Supervisory Vice President I would like to introduce myself to you and to communicate what you can expect from me. As well I look forward to interaction with you to determine what you expect from me. This appointment is pending State Board of Directors approval at the April CCPOA State Board meeting. However, with the challenges facing our supervisors I don’t think it would be prudent to wait for that approval before making contact with you.
I have served CCPOA since 1995 as a local Board Member and Chapter President. I have served as the Prison Review Committee Chairman since 2003. Currently I am assigned to Planning, Acquisition & Design dealing with security and staffing concerns revolving around the Departments Infill Bed Plan, Re-entry Facilities and the Federal Receivers Secure Health Care Facilities. I will be remaining in this position as I move forward as the interim Supervisory Vice President. I plan on doing the lion share of communication on my Furlough Fridays.
Communication is the key to success and you should, and can, expect that. I may not have all the answers, but I will strive to provide one. If you call me I will return your call. If you e-mail me I will respond to that also. Now that answer may not always be what you wish to hear, such is life, but it will be provided just the same. I anticipate sending frequent e-mails updating you all on events pertaining to our members. I have a partial e-mail list of all supervisors that are on file with CCPOA. Please share these contacts with all of your fellow supervisors that do not receive them directly.
I will be working closely with the CCPOA Supervisors Committee to establish a set of short and long-term goals. Please feel free to provide your input on the direction you would like to see. I can tell you now the ultimate goal will be the revision of the antiquated Ralph C. Dills act to include S06 members into the collective bargaining process.
As you may or may not know the state has noticed CCPOA with their intent to implement 12-hour shifts for supervisors at SVSP and the YTS conversion to an adult institution. This is the tip of the iceberg - there will be more to follow. Brenda Gibbons, SVSP Chapter President is currently doing all she can to fight this change. You can rest assured CCPOA will do whatever we can do to assist her in this endeavor. You can anticipate frequent updates as this process moves forward.
In closing I would like to say, no man is an island. I look forward to working with the State Board, your local Supervisory Vice President and you to ensure the finest Peace Officer Supervisors in the state receive all they rightfully deserve.
