Auto theft detectives break up suspected drug buy

Three people were arrested after police reportedly witnessed a possible drug buy in Porterville.

Detectives with a countywide auto theft task force were conducting an operation on Friday in Porterville and were driving at about 11:18 p.m. on the 1500 block of West Tomah Avenue when they reportedly saw what looked like illegal narcotics activity between a pedestrian, David Gamboa, 32, of Porterville, and Marco Azevedo, 29, of Porterville, who was driving a vehicle.

Gamboa allegedly tried to discard a small bindle of suspected methamphetamine when detectives tried to speak to him, the Porterville Police Department reports. He was allegedly in possession of another bindle of suspected methamphetamine and illegal narcotics paraphernalia, police report…
