November 11 – A ward was observed attempting to enter the YCC office. The ward received a DDSM check and then began making threatening statements towards staff. The ward was placed in cuffs and escorted to his room. The cuffs were removed and as the door was being closed, the ward spit through the crack of the door. The YCC was able to block the spit with her hand.
Paroles

 

November 30 – At 3:00 a.m. sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a possible prowler in the caller’s backyard. Deputies found and arrested a McKinleyville parolee who was parked on the residential street with a loaded Tec-9 assault style rifle, a loaded sawed off shotgun and a black ski cap in his vehicle.
 
November 27 – Long Beach police apprehended a convicted murderer wanted for burglary and for failing to report as required to his parole officer.
 
Also on November 27 – San Joaquin Sheriffs deputies searched for a parolee-at-large who shot at deputies during a car and foot chase.
 
November 23 – A Placer County parolee-at-large was caught after a vehicle pursuit.
 
Also on November 23 – A Merced parolee was arrested on suspicion of pulled a knife on two people.
 
November 22 – A parolee who allegedly fled the scene of a hit-and-run crash was captured when he fell out of tree in which he was hiding nearby.
 
Also on November 22 – A parolee has been charged with robbery after LAPD officer investigating an armed holdup used the iPhone “Find My Phone” application to locate the suspect, who was still carrying the stolen device.
 
Also on November 22 – A Merced parolee was arrested after he allegedly pulling a knife on two people and demanded money.
 
November 21 – A recent parolee was arrested after allegedly breaking into a Sonoma home and then being punched by another resident who found him hiding in a yard.
 
November 20 – San Jacinto officers stopped a vehicle and arrested a parolee on suspicion of possession of a deadly weapon, possession of burglary tools and for violating parole. Officers then questioned the other people in the vehicle and arrested another parolee on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm, possession of stolen property and violating parole. The other passenger was found to have several warrants and was also arrested.
 
November 18 – Oakland police arrested a parolee-at-large following a pursuit that resulted in two vehicle collisions and a carjacking.
 
November 17 – Fresno County sheriff’s deputies arrested a wanted parolee in a stolen car after the suspect led police on a short chase. The pursuit ended when the parolee crashed the car into a parked vehicle. The parolee ran but was caught by a sheriff’s canine. The parolee was charged with felony evading, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and parole violations.
 
Also on November 17 – A parolee was arrested for firing random shots in a residential area, suspicion of being a felon in possession of a gun, being under the influence of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and parole violations.
 
November 16 – A parolee led Pasadena police on a vehicle chase before barricading himself into an apartment with what authorities believed to have been three pipe bombs. The parolee was arrested and police detonated the bombs.
 
November 12 – A parolee was killed and eight others injured after a vehicle pursuit with CHP officers through the streets of San Bernardino. The pursuit ended when the parolee’s vehicle collided with three other vehicles. Two passengers in his car, who were also parolees, were sent to the hospital with major injuries.
 
November 11 – Less than a month after his release, a sex offender parolee is accused of violating parole after a GPS device showed he was within 50 yards of a Catholic school. The parolee was on parole for molesting two boys he met at other Catholic schools.
 
November 4 – Two parolees were arrested after a search led to the discovery of an assault rifle with numerous rounds of ammunition, heroin packaged for sale, methamphetamine and more than $4,000 in cash. One of the parolees was recently released from prison and placed on probation due to the new requirements of AB 109.
Pelican Bay

 

November 21 – A riot involving 63 inmates broke out on the general population Yard A. Numerous officers responded to stop the riot using pepper spray, grenades and guns shooting 40 mm rubber balls. A warning shot was also fired. All of the inmates were checked and treated for injuries. Three inmates were transported to an outside hospital for further medical treatment. An officer injured his hamstring while responding to the incident.
Salinas Valley

 

November 3 – A riot broke out in a maximum security yard. Staff used pepper spray before using non-lethal and then lethal munitions to stop the fighting. Sixteen inmates were treated at the prison and three were treated at a local hospital for stab wounds and head injuries. Five inmate manufactured weapons were recovered.
