April 2012
April 25 – A parolee who recently served time in prison for auto theft, identity theft and possession of a controlled substance was shot by Merced police after he crashed into a bus and tried to run over two officers.
April 24 – A wanted parolee who is a Bulldog gang member was arrested in Fresno after he snatched a necklace from a cashier at a local market.
Also on April 24 – A parolee was arrested after a Ventura standoff that lasted several hours. The man was on parole for an assault with a deadly weapon and was threatening to harm someone with a handgun. After the arrest, investigators found a stolen handgun, ammunition and controlled substances in his residence.
Also on April 24 – A parolee was arrested after he punched a convenience store clerk in the face while robbing a store in Vista. The man was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon.
Also on April 24 – A parolee was arrested after beating his girlfriend, doing a hit-and-run, driving under the influence and carrying a firearm.
Also on April 24 – A Banning parolee was arrested for stabbing a 38-year-old male.
April 23 – Lodi police arrested a parolee who was carrying two knives and methamphetamine.
Also on April 23 – A parolee suspected of robbing a bank led West Covina police on a chase for nearly an hour before being caught by a police dog in Whittier.
April 20 – A Bakersfield parolee led CHP and Kern County Sheriff’s deputies on a 94-mile high-speed pursuit. The chase ended when the parolee’s vehicle’s wheels disintegrated after the tires were flattened by a spike strip.
April 19 – A parolee was charged with receiving stolen laptop computers, cameras, jewelry and other high-end electronics worth thousands of dollars after a series of burglaries in the Hollywood area.
April 18 – A parolee from San Francisco was arrested after investigators found a loaded handgun and other evidence linking him to a robbery at gunpoint of a Pleasant Hill business.
Also on April 18 – A University of Southern California campus police officer shot an armed Compton parolee who tried to rob a group of students.
April 17 – Corcoran police received a call of people smoking marijuana at an apartment. When officers arrived, they spoke to a parolee and registered sex offender. They also spoke to another person who was babysitting two infants. Officers then searched the apartment and found a 14-year-old girl hiding in one of the rooms. Upon questioning, the girl told investigators the parolee kissed her and touched her inappropriately. The sex offender was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of child molestation and parole violation.
April 10 – A wanted parolee from Live Oak was arrested by a state parole agent who was working with the Santa Cruz Gang Task Force.
Also on April 10 – A Vista parolee and registered sex offender accused of sexually assaulting two women and kidnapping one of them last year was convicted of rape and other felonies. In addition to rape, the jury found the parolee guilty of several other charges including forcible oral copulation, sexual battery by restraint, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and burglary.
Also on April 10 – A wanted sex offender from San Jose was arrested after a resident found him inside his home.
April 7 – A Hollister parolee-at-large hit an officer as he tried to run away as well as assaulting two police as they tried to arrest him. The parolee was wanted since 2011 and had repeatedly fled from officers over the last year. Officers recovered several packages of narcotics during the arrest.
Also on April 7 – A Vallejo parolee was arrested for a February 7th robbery and beatings of the husband-and-wife owners of an El Cerrito dry cleaners.
April 5 – A parolee-at-large who was wanted for questioning of a rape and robbery was shot and killed by a Yucaipa deputy after the PAL reportedly fired several rounds at the deputy.
April 4 – Two male parolees were arrested at a Vallejo motel. One parolee was in violation of his condition of parole by having a loaded concealed weapon. The other parolee was a parolee-at-large.
Also on April 4 – South Sacramento police ended a standoff with a parole-at-large after he was hiding in a home’s attic and was bitten by a K-9.
Also on April 4 – Two men who were on post-release community supervision through California’s realignment plan (AB 109) was arrested for carjacking and assault. A third parolee from Hesperia who had been released from prison for a drug charge and was placed on non-revocable parole as a way for the state to cut costs and relieve the inmate population was also arrested in connection with the carjacking and assault.
April 2 – A Vista parolee was arrested on suspicion of murdering a 47-year-old Oceanside woman.
April 1 – A Napa parolee was arrested during a traffic stop for possessing a set of metal knuckles.

April 26 – An Altadena parolee and suspected gang member was arrested for the January murder of a 47-year-old Pasadena resident.
April 24 – A La Mesa parolee was arrested for beating his mother while at her condo. The woman suffered major injuries to her head and face. Doctor’s described the injuries as potentially life threatening and transferred her to a trauma center.
April 21 – An Oakland parolee was arrested and charged with robbing and sexually assaulting three women in the past seven months. The parolee was paroled from prison the week before his last attack.
April 14 – An Oakland parolee was arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of the parolee’s former neighbor.
April 13 – San Mateo police arrested a parolee in connection with the killing of a 23-year-old man. According to police reports the parolee and the victim were at another man’s parents’ residence when an argument broke out. The homeowner’s son and the parolee knocked the victim down and put a piece of plastic over his face before the son struck the victim several times with a pipe wrench and the parolee stabbed him in the abdomen. The two assailants then allegedly dragged the victim outside of the house and tried to put him in the trunk of a car, leaving a trail of blood along the way. However, due to the size of the victim, the two assailants were unable to lift him and left him on the ground. The parolee fled the scene and the other man went back into the house, waking his father and informing him something was wrong. When the man’s father went outside and saw the victim’s body he called police. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
April 9 – Benicia police stopped a vehicle for expired registration. The officer determined the passenger was a wanted parolee-at-large and had a felony arrest warrant out of Chico. A police search of the vehicle revealed a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, hypodermic needles, syringes, two bags containing stolen registration and insurance cards, a stolen GPS device, shaved keys used to steal cars and a spring-loaded awl hand tool.
April 7 – A Yuba City parolee wanted in a recent spousal abuse case was arrested on suspicion of abducting a woman from a WinCo Foods parking lot and raping her. The parolee was charged with false imprisonment, kidnapping, rape and assault with a knife.
April 6- A Chula Vista parolee was killed during an attempted burglary of an Apple Store in San Diego.
April 5 – An Antioch officer pulled over a vehicle without headlights. The driver could not provide identification and gave what the officer suspected was a fake name. As the officer ordered the man out of his car, the driver instead put the vehicle in reverse, trapping the officer between the door and the vehicle body and knocking her to the ground. The vehicle slammed into her patrol car and sped away into a nearby neighborhood. A police dog found the man, who was on parole for weapons and explosives offenses, in a nearby neighborhood.
March 2011
March 31 – Two Long Beach parolees led CHP officers on a high speed chase. The pair were traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour in a Jaguar sedan. Officers were able to eventually catch the vehicle. The officer determined that the driver had a suspended driver’s license and was a parolee wanted on a felony warrant. The warrant also considered her armed and dangerous. The parolee had been convicted and served time in prison for attempted murder, kidnapping and torture. Due to the notification, the officer called for back-up before investigating further. A search of the Jaguar, which belonged to the passenger, who was also a parolee, allegedly revealed more than six-and-a-half ounces of methamphetamine. Both parolees were arrested for alleged transportation, possession and possession for sale of a controlled substance.
March 30 – A Stockton parolee is accused of lying in wait with an AK-47 assault rifle to murder an 84-year-old man. The shooting occurred during a robbery at the victim’s rural home. The parolee is also charged with two counts of attempted murder for shooting his son, who survived a gunshot wound and another woman who was not physically injured. The parolee was released on parole from state prison less than two months before the killing.
March 29 – Long Beach SWAT arrested a wanted parolee on weapons charges who had barricaded himself in a residence.
March 23 – A sex offender who was sent to prison and later released on parole allegedly cut off his electronic foot bracelet and fled the state. A tip was received that the parolee was living in Maine, so police set up surveillance and located the parolee. After a short foot chase the parolee was arrested.
March 17 – Fresno police received a panic button call and responded to a check cashing business. An officer fatally shot one robbery suspect who was a parolee and another was arrested following the robbery.
Also on March 17 – Three teenagers were home in Presidio Heights when they heard an unusual noise. The 17-year-old boy checked the bedroom and saw a nude man masturbating on the bed. The teens fled to a neighbor’s home and called 911. Police responded and took the man, a 28-year-old parolee into custody. Police noted signs of forced entry and the parolee was found in possession of marijuana and also charged for burglary and felony indecent exposure.
March 12 – A Monterey County parolee was arrested on suspicion of trying to kill his grandmother by banging her head on the ground, punching her and choking her. The parolee also allegedly held a knife to his 72-year-old grandmother’s throat and told her he was going to kill her. The woman was able to distract the parolee and escape from the home they shared.
March 10 – Arizona State University police and a task force from the U.S. Marshals Service arrested a wanted California parolee for allegedly robbing an ASU student at gunpoint. The PAL was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon when he managed to cut off his GPS monitor in November 2010 and had been missing ever since.
March 9 – A Redding parolee was beating a woman in a parked car when a man tried to intervene. The wanted parolee began stabbing him with an eight-inch knife. The man tried to run away but the parolee caught up with him and stabbed him in the arms, hands and head. The parolee ran off before police arrived. The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Witnesses provided police with the parolee’s license plate number. Officers tracked him down and the woman he was alleged to have beaten was also with him. The parolee was charged with domestic violence resulting in injuries to the female and for attempted homicide.
Also on March 9 – Sacramento detectives with the Sheriff’s Department’s Gang Suppression Unit attempted a traffic enforcement stop but the driver failed to yield to officers and fled, leading officers on a pursuit. The parolee eventually stopped his vehicle and was taken into custody.
March 8 – Costa Mesa officers noticed a man driving with his high beams on and tried to pull him over, but the driver instead began to increase his speed. The driver soon lost control of the car and crashed into a curb. The man ran out of the car and into a nearby shopping center where he ran through the parking lot. Police continued to follow the man until he failed to climb over a wall. The driver was a parolee with previous theft charges. Police found methamphetamine on the parolee and he was taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and violation of parole.
Also on March 8 – A woman riding in a car stopped by Glenn County sheriff’s deputies was found to be a parolee-at-large and was booked into jail on multiple violations. The PAL was found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, including hypodermic needles. The PAL also gave a false name to deputies. The driver was also found to be on parole and arrested on multiple violations.
March 5 – A Lomita parolee was arrested on suspicion of killing his girlfriend’s two-year-old son. The parolee was taken into custody hours after the toddler was found dead in an apartment.
March 4 – A convicted sex offender out on parole on a separate drug conviction was arrested on suspicion of fondling himself in front of an apartment building.
March 1 – A parole agent went to the home of a Bakersfield parolee and found several boxes of ammunition. Authorities came back with a search warrant and the SWAT team and discovered more than a dozen rifles.
February 2011
February 23 – A parolee-at-large from Lake Elsinore wanted in connection with a 2008 assault that left the victim with the loss of sight in one eye was arrested by a gang task force.
Also on February 23 – Elk Grove detectives arrested a parolee on suspicion of robbery and parole violation. The parolee is accused of entering a bank on February 14th and using a semi-automatic handgun to rob a teller.
February 22 – Salinas police arrested two wanted parolees following a high-speed pursuit. The arrests came after officers recognized a parolee-at-large who was wanted on a felony arrest warrant. As officers approached the PAL, he started his car, drove off and a pursuit ensued. The chase quickly ended as the PAL crashed into a parked car. The PAL ran but was immediately found in a backyard. A passenger in the vehicle who was also a parolee-at-large ran but was apprehended. A search of the vehicle yielded two plastic bags filled with methamphetamine and rock cocaine.
February 14 – A parolee broke into a Canyon Lake residence stealing roughly $900 worth of electronics equipment. Investigators indentified the parolee as the prime suspect and located the stolen property at a house where he had been staying.
February 12 – A parolee led authorities on a 45-minute high-speed chase that ended when the parolee got out of his car and was tasered by El Cajon police.
February 11 – Officers from the S.A.F.E. Task Force arrested a parolee after failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements. During the arrest Task Force members found methamphetamine in the home and Child Protective Services were called to take a 3-year-old child from the residence. The child’s mother was also arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges related to the incident.
February 10 – A parolee led Santa Maria police on a high-speed chase. The chase ended when the parolee crashed into a parked vehicle. The parolee tried to run away, but was taken into custody. The parolee was booked on charges of violating parole, evading a police officer, hit and run and possession of burglary tools.
February 1 – Brentwood officers searching the vehicle of a parolee discovered a guitar case containing an assault rifle with a high-capacity magazine and several hundred rounds. Both the assault rifle and magazine are illegal to own in California and the parolee’s felon status already prohibited him from having firearms or ammunition. The parolee was arrested and booked into jail.
Also on February 1 – A parolee suspected of taking a car during a burglary was arrested. The parolee was booked at the Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, being a parolee in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and violation of parole.
January 2011
January 28 – A convicted sex offender parolee plead guilty to three felony counts of lewd acts on a child.
January 20 – Police arrested a parolee in the shooting death of an Antioch man. Police saw the parolee riding in a car and arrested him after a car and foot chase. The parolee was booked on parole violation and for allegedly possessing cocaine.
January 19 – A San Pablo officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. The officer began to talk with the driver, a woman, and took her driver’s license back to his car to relay the vehicle license number to dispatchers. The driver and one of two men in the car then jumped out. The officer began to chase them and saw the man throw a backpack behind a gas station. The officer then saw the man reach for his waistband and ordered him to stop. When the man didn’t comply, the officer used his Taser. The man vaulted a hedge and fell down. The officer struggled with him and felt a handgun in the man’s waistband. The man broke free, stood up and began pointing the gun at the officer. The officer pushed the man’s gun away while simultaneously firing multiple shots. The man, later identified as a parolee with an extensive criminal history, died at the scene.
January 17 – Salinas police responded to reports of a burglary in progress. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a slider door open and a man fleeing while carrying a bag. The man was later identified as a parolee with known gang associations and was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
January 13 – A sheriff’s deputy and his training officer were on patrol in East Los Angeles when they saw a man acting suspiciously in a parked car. When they made contact with him, a struggle ensued. The man shot the sheriff’s deputy in the face, prompting the training deputy to return fire. The sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized in critical condition and the man was pronounced dead at a medical center. The man was later identified as a parolee convicted of being a felon in possession of a gun and shooting into an inhabited dwelling. After the shooting, investigators discovered the parolee was in possession of two handguns.
January 11 – Eureka police conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on felony warrant and the passenger who was a parolee for possessing a loaded Glock handgun. The parolee had been out of prison for about one week and failed to report to his parole officer.
Also on January 11 – A parolee barricaded himself in a residence in the city of Sunland when officers tried to serve a search warrant. The parolee eventually surrendered to a SWAT team and was taken into custody.
January 5 –The parolee who was wanted for beating, choking and threatening to stab his girlfriend during an argument on November 27th was arrested by Barstow police after a one and a half hour standoff. The wanted parolee was in possession of a compound bow and arrow at the time of his arrest.
January 3 – Police arrested a San Bernardino parolee-at-large who ran from a sobriety checkpoint, barricaded himself in a house and claimed he had a hostage.
January 1 – An Oceanside parolee is suspected of fatally shooting his wife but leaving their children unharmed. A two-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl were inside the victim’s apartment at the time of the killing.
December 2010
December 27 – A parolee who allegedly beat up his pregnant girlfriend was arrested in Bellflower. The parolee is a gang member who is on parole for arson.
December 16 – A parolee with a history of violent crime has pleaded not guilty to killing a Riverside police officer with his own gun during a chase. Prosecutors say the parolee beat the officer with a metal bar and shot him with his own gun on November 7 near a Riverside park. A witness said the officer slipped and fell on wet pavement as he chased the suspected driver of a stolen big-rig that was involved in a hit-and-run crash. Investigators found a fingerprint matching the parolee inside the big-rig.
December 15 – A San Diego parolee was arrested in connection with eight separate bank robberies.
Also on December 15 – A parolee was shot during a confrontation in Riverside. Both the gunman and parolee fled the scene before police arrived. A short time later, the parolee went to the hospital seeking treatment for a non-life-threatening wound. The parolee created a minor disturbance in the emergency room and locked himself in a bathroom to avoid arrest. The parolee eventually surrendered without further incident.
Also on December 15 – Palm Springs police asked the public for help in finding a parolee who had been wearing a GPS monitor. The parolee has been missing since at least October, when the Riverside County SAFE Team discovered that he had removed the device.
December 10 – An Oakland police officer saw what he believed was a stranded motorist. The driver, who was later identified as a parolee, began acting nervously and gave inconsistent statements when questioned. The parolee sped off, hitting the officer but not seriously injuring him. Hours later, another officer saw the car and began chasing it after the driver refused to stop. The parolee sped onto the freeway, went down an embankment and crashed into a tree. The parolee was pronounced dead at the hospital.
December 9 – A transient parole, who served prison time for kidnapping and burglary convictions, pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and rape charges stemming from the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl and a similar attack on a woman. The parolee allegedly got together with the teen, who he met through a family member, on the pretense of taking her Christmas shopping. After the two arrived at a Wal-Mart store in El Cajon, the parolee allegedly pulled a pistol on the girl, took her cell phone and forced her to lie on the floor of his vehicle. The parolee then took the girl to the Fiesta Island area, where he sexually assaulted her and held her captive for several hours. He then drove to Alpine and dropped the girl off at the home of one of her relatives. After being freed, the girl immediately reported the crimes.
Also on December 9 – During a traffic stop in Orangevale, there was a struggle between the officer and a parolee, with the parolee trying to drive off. The parolee crashed into a wall and was injured. The deputy was also hurt, suffering minor injuries and taken to a local hospital.
December 8 – A sex offender was found guilty of sexually assaulting two Tijuana women after promising them house-cleaning jobs in his Rancho San Diego home. The parolee sex offender was found guilty on nine of 10 main counts, which included forcible oral copulation, false imprisonment by force, forcible sexual penetration and attempted sodomy. The sex offender parolee has a prior conviction of kidnapping for sexual purposes. He received an eight-year prison term for tying up a female customer in the back of a Radio Shack store in Vista where he worked in 1997.
Also on December 8 – A Modesto security guard’s car was stolen after the man he was questioning pulled a gun on him. The suspected car-jacker, a parolee, remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
Also on December 8 – A parolee-at-large led Van Nuys police on a 50-minute chase through the San Fernando Valley before surrendering. The PAL was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
Also on December 8 – A parolee was arrested after crashing a stolen pickup into two other cars while trying to escape from Santa Ana police.
December 7 – A parolee awaiting sentencing for pimping a 13-year-old girl in Montclair two years ago was slashed and slightly wounded by two other prisoners in a holding cell while he was awaiting transfer to court for sentencing. The parolee had served 26 years in prison for rape and robbery. He was on parole and wearing a GPS monitor when he began pimping the child.
Also on December 7 – A parolee and women are accused of passing counterfeit money throughout Santa Barbara County.
Also on December 7 – A parole-at-large, wanted for three robberies in Pacoima and in connection with a battery on an officer, was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force.
December 6 – A parolee died after being shot by two Placer County sheriff’s deputies. The deputies were following a stolen white truck, when the suspect rammed an undercover deputy’s vehicle and rear-ended a parked car. A shootout began after the truck crashed through a nearby fence.
Also on December 6 – An auto theft parolee driving a stolen car was arrested after he rammed an Alameda County Sheriff’s Department cruiser and a BART police car in Hayward.
December 2 – San Bernardino police and personnel from CDCR arrested a parolee on suspicion of homicide. The parolee’s father was also arrested at the scene on suspicion of assisting in the crime.
Also on December 2 – Woodland police arrested a parolee-at-large after he led them on a short chase. A police officer saw a man who he believed had a warrant out for his arrest. The officer attempted to stop the parolee-at-large, who quickly rode his bike away from the officer. After the officer discovered the PAL hiding behind a parked van, the PAL again fled. The man was apprehended within minutes while attempting to hide in an alley.
December 1 – Barstow police apprehended a wanted parolee after he fled on foot from a residence during a probation check.
Also on December 1 – Huntington Beach Police along with agents from CDCR checked on 10 registered paroled sex offenders in the city, arresting five who were found in violation of their parole and taken to Chino State Prison.
Also on December 1 – A parolee led Chula Vista police on a high-speed pursuit on the interstate and a series of side streets before pulling over his vehicle. After pulling over, the man sat in his car and spoke to 911 dispatchers on a cell phone while holding a pistol to his head. The man allegedly said that he did not want to go back to prison. The parolee eventually surrendered.
November 2010
November 29 – A parolee became angry about the DMV questioning the validity of his identification. The CHP responded and when the suspect was taken outside, he punched the officer. The CHP officer subdued the parolee and arrested on suspicion of assaulting an officer.
November 18 – A convicted car thief and wanted parolee has pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and other crimes. The parolee rammed a stolen car into a police car in Escondido. Police fired on the stolen car, accidentally killing the parolee’s girlfriend.
November 17 – A sex offender released from prison was arrested two hours later and taken back into custody for a parole violation. The parolee served 25 years for abducting and molesting two girls in two separate incidents in 1983.
November 12 – A paroled fugitive was shot and killed by a Mendocino County sheriff’s deputy after fleeing a house. The parolee was suspected of rape, assault, kidnapping, burglary, auto theft and other crimes stretching through at least three counties.
November 10 – A Rubidoux parolee was arrested in Riverside in connection with the slaying of Officer Ryan Bonaminio after a traffic stop and brief foot chase in the city’s Fairmount Park. The parolee has a record of at least 13 cases stretching back to October 1990, when he pleaded guilty to two felonies: receiving stolen property and battery on a police officer and was sentenced to one year and four months.
November 9 – Seaside police officers noticed a man acting strangely. When officers got out of their car to talk to the suspect, the man tried to hide from officers. Police officers saw the man hiding and were able to identify him as a parolee. The parolee was found in possession of a fully loaded Tec-9 semi-automatic pistol, 29 grams of methamphetamine, .2 grams of cocaine, and 19.9 grams of marijuana.
November 7 – A parolee was arrested on suspicion of murdering a San Francisco socialite and philanthropist after he posed as a utility worker in order to get into her apartment. The parolee was on parole for attempted murder in Fresno.
November 2 – A parolee, who was released from prison just a few weeks prior, was shot dead by police. The parolee tried to outrun an officer after a traffic violation, but crashed his car and tried to flee with a gun in his hand.
Also on November 2 – South Pasadena police are looking for a paroled sex offender who removed his GPS locator and disappeared.
October 2010
October 28 – San Bernardino County Sheriffs are looking for a Lucerne Valley registered sex offender who took off a GPS monitoring bracelet he is required to wear as a condition of parole.
October 26 – A man selling perfume from his car at an Antioch gas station parking lot was robbed at gunpoint and fled the scene. Police arrested the suspect, a parolee with a previous conviction for robbery, a few hours later.
Also on October 26 – A parolee fled a halfway house in Apple Valley, after he removed a tracking bracelet from his ankle. The parolee was apprehended by CHP later that night. The parolee has a record of sex crimes against a child.
October 19 – A sergeant patrolling in Palm Springs spotted a broken window at a medical facility and called for backup. As police sealed off the area, the suspect realized he had been seen and ran. Following a brief chase, police arrested a parolee who was released from prison just days prior. In 2007 the parolee was convicted of a felony count of burglary and was sentenced to two years in state prison.
October 15 – A parolee from Apple Valley was sentenced to life in prison for the rape and murder of an 83-year-old woman, who was then set on fire, more than a decade ago. The parolee was connected to the brutal killing through a DNA hit and was one of the first cases in San Bernardino County attributed to Proposition 69. The legislation required DNA samples to be taken from all convicted felons and from adults and juveniles who were charged with certain crimes. The parolee has served two prior prison terms and was on parole when he killed the Colton woman. At the time of his arrest, the parolee was in custody on charges of child molestation and burglary stemming from two separate cases in Victorville.
Also on October 15 – An irate male appeared on the property of the DJJ Bakersfield Parole Office attempting to confront students attending a graduation ceremony for a vocational training program. The man was confronted by the supervising parole agent and told to leave, which he did. The man then returned a short time later, acting aggressively and refusing to leave. The parole agent used pepper spray with no effect. The man continued to advance towards the students, as another parole agent and the class instructor assisted the supervising parole agent in physically trying to stop the man by wrestling him to the ground. During the struggle, the man removed a knife from his belt. Staff ordered him to put the knife down and made unsuccessful attempts to disarm him. As the man started to get up from the ground, with the knife still in his hand, a parole agent shot him once in the leg. Staff were able to get the knife away and handcuff him. The suspect was arrested and charged with multiple assault charges and taken to Kern Medical Center.
October 3 – A parolee abducted his ex-girlfriend and their 11-month-old daughter in San Jose, leading police on a vehicle chase before crashing and holding the victim at knifepoint. The parolee then threw himself off an overpass. The parolee was taken to a local hospital and was then arrested on suspicion of 11 criminal counts, including kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.
October 2 – A parolee, who was a validated gang member, led Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when his vehicle swerved to avoid an oncoming car, skid 200 yards across a church parking lot through a chain link fence and into a tree on the edge of a playing field at Larchmont Elementary School where 85 children were playing at the time. The parolee was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

September 29 – A heavily armed parolee-at-large was shot and killed by Los Angeles police officers after a confrontation during a traffic stop.
Also on September 29 – A Santa Rosa parolee was arrested for the brutal rape, robbery and beating of a victim in his grandmother’s Potrero Hill public housing complex.
September 28 – A parolee was the passenger in a vehicle on US 101 when the car was pulled over by a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy. When the deputy learned the passenger was a parolee, he searched him and found 44 grams of heroin, .3 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and a suspected ecstasy pill. The parolee was booked on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, possessing a narcotic controlled substance, possessing a narcotic controlled substance for sale, possessing marijuana and a violation of parole.
September 27 – A parolee was arrested after a high speed pursuit that began in Oxnard and ended in Santa Paula. The parolee was arrested after he jumped over a railing at an undercrossing, fell to the street and sustained serious injury following the police chase that lasted more than 30 minutes.
September 24 – A parolee, who was released from jail hours before, was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violating probation in Mendocino County.
Also on September 24 – Escondido police responded to a report that people with guns were arguing. When police arrived the people had left but witnesses described the man and vehicle leaving the scene. Police then stopped a similar car nearby. Inside was a parolee with a loaded gun. Police arrested the parolee charging him with a felon and gang member in possession of a loaded, concealed firearm. The woman in the car was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.
September 23 – In Concord, an armed parolee was running from police who were attempting to arrest him for an outstanding warrant when the parolee hid in a woman’s bedroom. The parolee then tried to force the victim into the bathroom but fled when she cut his face and arm with a knife. Officers and a police dog located the parolee and arrested him.

January 24 – A South Central 2 parolee was a driver involved in a two-vehicle collision that killed the other driver. The parolee exited the vehicle attempting to flee but was apprehended by Los Angeles police. The parolee was found to be under the influence.
January 22 – A high-control parolee-at-large was identified as the driver of a vehicle involved in a high speed chase in the city of Fairfield. The PAL evaded multiple units and rammed two police vehicles, and eventually fled from his vehicle into an apartment complex. Fairfield Special Weapons and Tactics responded and located the PAL. After a brief standoff, the PAL surrendered.
January 22 – A San Jose 1 parolee was arrested by Costa Mesa police after she allegedly stole an expensive coat from a Saks Fifth Avenue store. The parolee was booked into the local jail.
January 20 – A San Leandro parolee and another individual attempted to rob a Walgreens store. The manager flagged down two CHP officers and reported the robbery, and a perimeter was set up. The parolee was shot and killed after he attempted to exit the store shooting at the officers.
January 16 – Two Santa Barbara citizens died after being struck by a hit and run driver. Witnesses were able to describe the vehicle and provide a license plate number. With the assistance of Ventura Parole 1, police were able to locate and arrest the parolee.
January 13 – A parolee from the Oakland 3 unit broke into the home of his 2-year-old daughter’s mother. The parolee punched the daughter and, in the ensuing struggle, cut the mother with a knife. Both victims were treated at a local hospital.
January 13 – A parolee from the Salinas 1 unit was suspected of burglarizing the home of a police officer. Firearms, ammunition, police vests, official badges and a roster were taken from the home. Parole agents and police conducted a search of the parolee’s home and recovered two firearms, ammunition and one police vest.
January 13 – A Salinas 1 parolee attempted to pay a 13-year-old boy for sex. Officers responded to the scene and approached the parolee, who ran and then fought with police. The parolee was subdued and booked into the local jail and charged with possession of cocaine, resisting arrest and a parole hold.
January 11 – A parolee from San Francisco 1 was arrested for the beating and stabbing of a taxi driver.
January 7 – A Salinas 2 parolee ran into a residence after parole agents and police attempted to contact him. The parolee barricaded himself inside a home as police surrounded the residence and attempted to communicate with him. After approximately four hours the parolee surrendered to police.
January 7 – A San Fernando Valley 1 parolee and an accomplice were arrested during a traffic stop after officers found a pipe bomb inside the vehicle. The bomb squad was called to the scene and an evacuation was ordered.
January 5 – A Sacramento Natomas parolee was apprehended when his car caught fire during a police pursuit. The parolee was stopped by officers for traffic violations and told officers he was on parole before speeding away. Officers chased the parolee at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour until his engine compartment caught fire and his car rolled to a stop. The parolee was taken into custody and a large amount of money was seized as evidence.
January 4 – A Marysville parolee and an accomplice committed robbery of a convenience store in Yuba County. During the robbery, the store clerk was shot in the face. The two assailants were arrested and booked on charges of armed robbery and attempted murder.
January 3 – A Long Beach 1 parolee plunged to his death when he asked to tour a penthouse on the 18th floor of a condominium complex. While on the tour, he went onto the balcony and jumped.
January 3 – Two Visalia 2 parolees and some gang associates went to a residence and confronted the occupants who were throwing a football party. A fight ensued in the front yard. Three people were stabbed, including a correctional officer, as they tried to get back into the residence. The police were called and the attackers ran. The police found 14 people, including two parolees who were uncooperative with police subsequently leading to their arrest. Two knives were found in the yard. The correctional officer and one other victim required surgery due to the severity of their injuries.

December 30 – Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputies swarmed on one discharged parole and one active parolee from San Jose 1. Deputies located an Ak-47 with 6 high capacity magazines, 620 rounds of ammunition, 2 loaded handguns, a pound of methamphetamine, a pound of cocaine, 23 pounds of marijuana, and approximately 3,100 tablets of pseudoephedrine with a street value of $120,000 and $26,000 in cash.
December 30 – A Fairfield 2 parolee was shot in the stomach by Vallejo police after he pointed a firearm at officers.
December 29 – The Antelope Valley parole office was notified that a San Fernando Valley 3 parolee was intoxicated and located at the residence of his victim in his last parole violation. Five agents went to the location. Upon contact, the parolee failed to comply with instructions to show his hands and he began to reach for his waistband. Fearing the parolee was reaching for a weapon, the parolee was pepper sprayed by an agent. Once contained, handcuffed and decontaminated, agents were escorting the parolee when he began swinging his shoulders and elbows in a violent manner. Agents instructed the parolee to get down on the grass; to which the parolee would not comply. The parolee was subsequently taken to the ground by two agents.
December 29 – A Fresno 6 parolee was arrested by police when he went to his former wife’s residence and ordered her and a child into a car. The car smashed into a pole after the women forced the car off the road. The parolee was booked on 12 counts, including suspicion of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and cruelty to a child.
December 28 – A Fresno 2 parolee-at-large was arrested after he crashed his car into a vineyard. The parolee-at-large was wanted for shooting a Sheriff’s deputy, after he was involved in a carjacking.
December 27 – A San Gabriel 3 parolee and an El Monte 2 parolee were arrested following the stabbing of a women in the chest and arm. The two men fled the scene and the women was taken to a local hospital. Hours later, one of the parolees arrived at the hospital and was arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted murder. Police are unsure why the parolee came to the hospital following the attack. The second suspect was arrested at his home.
December 23 – A San Francisco 3 parolee was arrested and charged with murder and robbery stemming from an October 4 incident. The parolee allegedly shot and killed a tourist from Louisiana who was lured into a city housing complex.
December 22 – During a multi-agency sweep, an Oakland 1 parolee fired shots at Oakland police officers. The parolee was arrested. No injuries were reported.
December 17 – A Visalia 1 parolee was one of two men arrested for the theft of an unmarked police SUV which contained multiple weapons and police equipment. The vehicle and weapons were recovered and the parolee was placed in custody and charged with possession of an assault rifle, possession of ammunition, vehicle theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy.
December 16 – An Antelope Valley 1 parolee entered the victim’s residence in Hollywood and confronted him at gunpoint demanding that the victim open his safe. The victim was shot through the neck and his dog also sustained a gunshot wound. The victim’s wife and newborn baby were in the house at the time but were not harmed. A witness who heard gunshots called 911 and saw a car leaving the scene. Officers saw a car matching the description and a car pursuit followed. The parolee crashed the vehicle and subsequently was taken into custody.
December 11 – A parolee from Marysville robbed an elderly woman and demanded her purse at gunpoint. The parolee was arrested and through additional information it was revealed that on December 9 the parolee robbed another elderly woman.
December 8 – A discharged Oakland 2 parolee was arrested for kidnapping and robbery. The parolee was identified on surveillance video robbing a man at an ATM machine and then demanding the victim to drive him to another location.
December 6 – A San Jose parolee was arrested for three counts of assault with intent to commit rape, and one count of kidnapping. The parolee attacked three female joggers on the Stevens Creek Trail.
December 5 – An Indio parolee is wanted for the murder of a 16-year-old boy with whom the parolee was seen arguing. The victim was shot 5 times and died at the scene.
November 2009
November 30 - A parolee-at-large from the Moreno Valley 2 unit led Riverside police on a car chase. During the pursuit, the parolee shot at officers with an automatic firearm, striking the police vehicle several times. The pursuit ended in the city of Rubidoux. The Riverside sheriff's SWAT team was deployed and the neighborhood was cordoned off for several hours. The parolee-at-large was eventually taken into custody and charged with felon in possession of a firearm, false imprisonment and three counts of attempted murder on a peace officer.
November 24 - An Inglewood 5 parolee allegedly gunned down a woman. The parolee ran into officers as she tried to escape from witnesses and the victim's son.
November 23 - A Modesto 2 parolee struck a parole agent who was performing duties as a Field Unit Notice agent. The parolee struck the agent in the face with a clinched fist, through the bars of his cell.
November 22 - A Chula Vista 2 parolee broke into an off-duty Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent's residence and demanded the keys to the agent's car. The parolee attempted to assault the agent with a hammer and an ice pick. The agent discharged his service weapon striking the parolee. The parolee fled and was later apprehended by San Diego police.
November 20 - A Bakersfield 6 parolee-at-large entered a store and squirted lighter fluid on the clerk, threatening to light him on fire if he did not hand over cash. The parolee-at-large then grabbed a lighter and tried to ignite the clerk, but was unsuccessful. A customer scared him off and the parolee-at-large fled the scene in a waiting vehicle. Police received information that led to the parolee's arrest.
November 19 - A parolee-at-large from the Victorville 1 parole unit went to his girlfriend's home and began attacking her for cheating on him. The girlfriend's roommate called police. Another roommate intervened and drove the parolee away from the home. A deputy saw the vehicle and pulled it over. The parolee exited the vehicle and ran from the scene. A foot pursuit ensued and the parolee ran into a home occupied by adults and small children. While in the home, the parolee threatened the family with a gun. Deputies forced entry into the home and arrested the parolee after a scuffle.
November 18 - A Fresno 4 parolee was arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching his wife's minor daughter.
November 18 - A Woodland parolee was arrested by the Yolo Narcotic Enforcement Team for manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by an ex-felon, and possession of ammunition by an ex-felon.
November 18 - An Inglewood 2 Parole Unit parolee was arrested for killing his 16-month old child.
November 18 - A parolee from the Oakland 1 unit was identified as the driver in a bank robbery in the city of Orinda. The parolee allegedly is the suspect of approximately three other robberies. The parolee was contacted and instructed to report to the parole office, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
November 17 - A Bakersfield 5 parolee was arrested for the murder of his uncle, who was a parolee-at-large.
November 16 - A parolee-at-large from San Leandro led Fremont police on a high speed chase, as he drove the wrong way on the freeway. The PAL eventually abandoned the vehicle and summoned a taxi. Police stopped the taxi and the parolee was arrested.
November 15 - Two Whittier police officers were conducting a traffic stop and heard gunshots. The officers searched the area and found a parolee from the El Monte 3 unit and a female passenger both deceased in a vehicle.
November 15 - A Bakersfield 7 parolee was arrested for attempted murder and participating in a criminal street gang. The parolee was one of four men who pulled out a handgun and shot the victim multiple times at close range.
November 12 - Two parolees from the Bakersfield parole unit 7 and 5 were arrested for the alleged stabbing death of a victim.
November 9 - A Fresno 2 parolee is a suspect in a robbery and stabbing death of a man that occurred in broad daylight in front of a market in Los Angeles. The parolee drove to Mexico and was arrested by Mexican authorities for an unknown reason.
November 9 - A parolee from the South Central 2 unit was shot in the shoulder by Gardena police following a carjacking.
November 8 - A Santa Cruz parolee is the suspect of several sexual batteries that occurred against school girls in Watsonville. The GPS monitoring device worn by the parolee provided police with information that placed him at the scene of the incidents.
November 7 - A Santa Maria parolee entered a residence demanding money. One of the female occupants attempted to flee, but the parolee fired two shots and physically assaulted her. The parolee attempted to force the victims to perform sexual acts on each other, but when police arrived at the scene, a fight ensued. During the fight, the parolee shot one of the male victims in the chest before he was subdued. The parolee was booked for residential burglary, robbery, attempted murder, criminal threats, kidnapping, false imprisonment and sex-related offenses.
November 7 - A parolee from Santa Cruz wore a mask and was armed with a handgun when he robbed a gas station and convenience store.
November 7 - A Sac Metro 2 parolee was arrested for robbery.
November 4 - A San Luis Obispo parolee was wanted on stolen vehicle and attempted kidnapping charges. Officers from several police agencies unsuccessfully attempted to stop the stolen vehicle driven by the parolee.
November 4 - Los Angeles police detectives observed a van containing three male suspects pull into a gas station. Two armed occupants exited the van wearing ski masks and wigs. A parolee from the Huntington Park 2 unit was the driver of the van and remained inside the vehicle while the other suspects robbed the gas station. Following the robbery, officers stopped the van and all three suspects attempted to flee. They were apprehended a short time later.
November 3 - Four assailants fired multiple shots at victims in a park. One of the victims died at the scene. The four suspects were found in a nearby car and were taken into custody. Two of the suspects included a parolee from the Antelope Valley 1 unit and a parolee from the Inglewood 1 unit.
November 3 - Los Angeles sheriff's deputies responded to a call from a woman stating her son was agitated and in possession of a gun. Upon arrival to the scene, gun shots were exchanged between the Inglewood 2 parolee and deputies. One deputy was shot by the parolee and taken to a local hospital. The parolee was shot and killed at the scene.
November 2 - An Inglewood 2 parolee and an accomplice broke into the residence of a female victim. Police responded and apprehended the assailants in the area. They were arrested and charged with rape by force and robbery.

October 28 - An Antelope Valley 3 Parole Unit parolee was arrested across the street from an elementary school. The parolee was reportedly seen masturbating in view of dozens of children playing on the school grounds. The parolee was released from prison four days earlier.
October 26 - A parolee from the San Fernando Valley 3 Parole Unit was arrested for the stabbing death of a homeless man. Fellow transients witnessed the murder and identified the parolee as the assailant. The parolee was at the scene of the murder when detectives questioned him and he confessed to the crime.
October 15 - A Pittsburg patrol officer observed a man, later identified as a parolee from the Concord 2 Parole Unit, standing idly in the rain. The officer approached the parolee and the conversation escalated into the parolee fleeing from the officer and a foot pursuit ensued. When the officer caught up with the parolee a struggle ensured and both of them fell to the ground. The officer then heard a click of a gun and the parolee put the revolver to his head. The officer grabbed the gun while the parolee bit the officer's arm repeatedly trying to gain control of the gun. More officers arrived on the scene and the parolee was arrested.
October 15 - Two parolees from the Concord 2 Parole Unit were arrested for robberies at a store and a restaurant.
October 5 - A San Jose 7 Parole Unit parolee who is supervised on GPS caseload was arrested for a bank robbery in the city of Santa Clara.
October 3 - A parolee from the Stockton 1 Parole Unit and an accomplice were arrested for burglarizing a church. The suspect's vehicle was located in the church parking lot filled with items stolen from the church.
October 2 - A South Central 4 Parole Unit parolee was arrested after he stabbed a female twice in the neck during a robbery at the victim's residence.
October 1 - A female victim was found bound and stabbed to death in her Oconomowoc home. DNA, which matched a parolee from the Stockton 3 Parole Unit, was recovered from the investigation.
October 1 - A parolee-at-large from the Salinas 2 Parole Unit was arrested by California State University, Monterey Bay police after a vehicle and foot chase, which partly occurred inside the campus property.

September 30 - A Sacramento Metro 1 Parole Unit parolee-at-large led police on high-speed chase through West Sacramento. The chase ended when the parolee-at-large crashed his car into a home. The parolee-at-large fled the scene and broke into a neighbor's home. A K-9 was used to apprehend the parolee. A search of the parolee's residence led to the discovery of up to five pounds of methamphetamines.
September 30 - A parolee from the South Central 3 Parole Unit struck a victim with a bat. The victim sustained facial injuries which has required several surgeries.
September 28 - A San Luis Obispo Parole Unit parolee was arrested by police and arson investigators as he was observed attempting to ignite a flammable liquid near a door of a residence.
September 28 - During a home visit of a parolee from the Daly City Parole Unit, the agent noticed the parolee acting suspicious. The agent then ordered the parolee to surrender possible contraband items and place her hands behind her back. The parolee resisted and a struggle ensued. Using physical force, the parolee was taken into custody.
September 27 - A Rialto Parole Unit parolee was walking down the street carrying a shotgun. Officers confronted the parolee, who then fired multiple rounds at the officers; the officers returned fire. After a foot pursuit, the parolee surrendered and was taken into custody. One officer was hit by at least one round from the shotgun and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
September 27 - A parolee from the Santa Rosa 2 Parole Unit was arrested for indecent exposure and possession of methamphetamine.
September 23 - A Concord 1 Parole Unit parolee was driving a stolen vehicle when Contra Costa County deputies attempted to stop the vehicle. The parolee drove the vehicle directly at deputies who fired their guns at the vehicle. The parolee was shot and killed. One of the deputies was slightly injured during the incident.
September 23 - A parolee-at-large from the Marysville Parole Unit led CHP on a high-speed pursuit that reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. Spike strips were used and the parolee's vehicle was pinned by a CHP cruiser.
September 23 - A parolee from the San Leandro Parole Unit was arrested for two sexual assaults that occurred in Berkeley.
September 23 - Two Richmond Parole Unit parolees were arrested for being involved in a shooting incident with a rival gang.
September 21 - A Santa Maria Parole Unit parolee and an accomplice were arrested for stabbing and robbing two separate individuals. The parolee would approach the victims, rob them at knife point and stabbed them before fleeing the scene.
September 17 - A parole agent and a Gang Task Force member were in the city of Lake Elsinore providing extra patrol when they recognized a parolee-at-large. The parole agent and gang task force member approached the parolee-at-large. The parolee-at-large put his hands up and turned his body towards the agent with his hand away from them. The parolee then tossed a loaded .357 caliber revolver. The agents ordered the parolee-at-large to the ground and he complied. A home search of this parolee residence was conducted six days earlier, where a stolen loaded .357 hand-gun was located.
September 16 - A parolee from the Concord 1 Parole Unit failed to yield to Pittsburg police and a vehicle chase ensued. The parolee eventually crashed into a tree and attempted to flee on foot. The parolee fought with officers during the arrest.
September 15 - A high-control parolee-at-large from the Sacramento Metro 4 Parole Unit was at a motel and possibly armed. Once the parole intervention team and Sacramento police arrived, they saw the suspect sitting in his vehicle outside the motel. They ordered the parolee-at-large at gunpoint to exit the vehicle. The parolee-at-large refused, put his vehicle in gear and rammed into the parole team's car and the police car. A parole agent then fired at the suspect, who was not hit. The parolee-at-large fled the scene but he was subsequently located in an empty residence and placed into custody.
September 15 - A parole agent was conducting a home visit when the AOR hear a commotion inside the residence. The AOR announced his presence and ordered the parolee to come out with his hands up. The parolee complied and exited. The parolee's girlfriend was crying and told the agent that the parolee had hit her. The AOR attempted to place handcuffs on the parolee, who initially complied, but later pulled his arm away and began flailing both arms. The agent warned the parolee that pepper spray would be dispensed if he did not comply. As the AOR attempted to remove the parolee from the residence, again the parolee began to struggle. The agent utilized pepper spray to gain compliance of the parolee.
September 10 - A San Luis Obispo Parole Unit parolee was the driver of a motorcycle that led police on a high speed chase. The parolee was eventually stopped and arrested.
September 8 - A Parolee from the Sac Natomas Parole Unit fled from Rocklin police in a stolen vehicle. In an attempt to flee, the parolee accelerated towards a police cruiser and rammed it head on. The parolee fled on foot, and was apprehended by police after being tasered.
September 8 - An Oakland 3 Parole Unit parolee was shot in the leg during an apparent shootout. During the incident, a female was shot and killed. The gunman fled the scene. The parolee is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
September 7 - A Fresno 3 Parole Unit parolee stole a pickup truck with an eight-year-old boy still inside and led police on a chase. The parolee crashed into two cars, injuring a total of eight people. K-9 officers were used to detain the parolee, while officers rescued the child. The jaws of life were used to save a family, including a seven-month-old child.
September 6 - A Kern County Sheriffs Deputy met with a 56-year-old female victim who reported that a Hispanic male, later identified as a parolee-at-large from the Bakersfield 6 Parole Unit, removed a fanny pack from her. During the struggle, the victim was stabbed on her forearm and later received treatment from a local hospital. A box cutter was later found at the scene.
September 4 - A parolee from the Oakland 2 Parole Unit is reported to have fired a handgun numerous times into a parked vehicle; killing the man who was inside on August 27. The parolee fled the murder scene but was arrested a few days later.
September 4 - A Compton 2 Parole Unit parolee removed his clothes and began running up and down a street. With the assistance of citizens, the Los Angles County Sheriff Deputies placed him in handcuffs. The parolee went into cardiac arrest and died at the scene. It appears the parolee was under the influence of PCP.
September 3 - A Santa Ana 1 Parole Unit parolee and two accomplices were tagging a building, when a local citizen demanded that they stop their activities. They then approached the citizen and began punching, kicking and stabbing him.
September 2 - A 19-year-old and an 18-year-old victim both reported being sexually assaulted. Both victims gave the same physical description. The following day, an officer responded to a report of a male in an abandoned vehicle. The male had a crack pipe and was stating that someone was going to kill him. The officer observed a parolee-at-large from the Sac Metro 1 Parole Unit, asleep in the back of vehicle. The parolee-at-large matched the description of the incident the previous day and he was arrested.
September 2 - A parolee from the Bakersfield 6 Parole Unit and a parolee from the Bakersfield 1 Parole Unit were passengers in a vehicle that was involved in an exchange of gunfire with another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was shot and killed.

August 24 - Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was parked in an alley in the city of San Bernardino. Officers instructed the occupants of the vehicle to step out of the car. Officer's reported that one of the occupants, later identified as a parolee from the San Bernardino 1 Parole Unit, immediately began to attack one of the officers. During the struggle the parolee took possession of the officer's taser and pointed it directly at the officer's face. A responding back-up officer observing the scene fired his weapon one time, striking the parolee in the abdomen area. The parolee was pronounced dead at the scene.
August 23 - An Ontario 1 Parole Unit parolee killed a woman and her son. The parolee subsequently kidnapped his ex-girlfriend then shot and killed himself.
August 21 - A Santa Cruz Parole Unit parolee was arrested after he drove a Hummer onto a downtown sidewalk striking and killing a pedestrian. The parolee fled from the scene but was stopped and arrested by police.
August 18 - A parolee from the Bakersfield 4 Parole Unit entered a local business with a trash bag in hand, jumped the counter, and removed money from the cash register. The parolee fled the scene with two other individuals. Police were called and responding officers located the vehicle and a pursuit began, which ended when the vehicle ran off the road. The parolee and his accomplices attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended a short distance away.
August 18 - A high control parolee from the El Centro Parole Unit was arrested for stabbing another parolee from the same parole unit. Both parolees were uncooperative with police but witnesses reported that the victim was riding a bike when the parolee chased him down, knocking him off his bike and then stabbing him about the neck and face. The victim parolee was flown to a San Diego area hospital.
August 16 - A Vallejo Parole Unit parolee was arrested as a suspect in the shooting of a parolee-at-large from the Richmond Parole Unit. The victim parolee-at-large was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
August 14 - An Auburn Parole Unit parolee was removed from a residential program for being drunk and possibly under the influence of drugs. It was later determined that he had possibly raped and beaten another program resident.
August 13 - San Mateo police were conducting surveillance on a residence when they observed a parolee from the Daly City Parole Unit get into a vehicle driven by another parolee from the same parole unit. As officers began to block the vehicle, the driver began ramming his vehicle into the police vehicle. Officers fired a gunshot at the vehicle, hitting the parolee driver in the chest area. The parolee was transported to a local hospital and the other parolee was arrested. A subsequent search of the residence uncovered approximately one half pounds of methamphetamine.
August 12 - A Fairfield 1 Parole Unit parolee was arrested in connection with the July 19 rape of a Vacaville woman in her home. The victim reportedly had fallen asleep with the door open. When the woman woke, she was confronted by the suspect in her hallway and he proceeded to sexually assaulted her. When the parolee went to grab a kitchen knife, the victim escaped her home. The parolee was charged with suspicion of rape, penetration with a foreign object, making threats, false imprisonment and a parole hold.
August 12 - A Stockton 3 Parole Unit parolee and a non-parolee were arrested on possession of chemicals to make drugs, unlawfully making methamphetamine and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
August 12 - Redding officers were called to an apartment with reports of a woman crying. When officers arrived and kicked open the door they found a Redding 1 Parole Unit parolee on top of woman pinning her down. The parolee was arrested on suspicion of violating his parolee and domestic violence. The victim was treated at a local hospital for injuries to her face, neck and legs.
August 10 - A parole agent from the San Francisco 1 Parole Unit was entering a parole office when without any provocation a parolee from the San Francisco 3 Parole Unit lunged at the agent and attempted to hit him with a closed fist. The agent was able to grab the parolee's arm and divert the parolees' lunging force. The agent then attempted to place the parolee in restraints but the parolee forcefully resisted. Two agents in the immediate area were able to provide assistance; place the parolee in restraints.
August 10 - Two parolees from the Stockton 3 Parole Unit stabbed to death a 58-year-old woman in a mobile home park.
August 10 - Sacramento police were called to home on reports of gunfire. Police stopped a vehicle that matched the description of a car seen leaving the scene of gunfire. A parolee from Sac Metro Parole Unit 4 and a parolee from Sac Metro Parole Unit 1 were booked on numerous charges including assault with a deadly weapon, participation in a street gang and possession of ammunition by a felon.
August 9 - A South Central 2 Unit parolee was involved in an officer shooting. The parolee was carrying a loaded Tech 9 submachine firearm. The parolee was killed by officers of the Los Angeles Police Department.
August 9 - A Merced Parole Unit parolee was found with multiple stab wounds to the upper torso. The parolee was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Shortly after entering the hospital, the parolee was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
August 9 - Deputies from Carson observed illegally parked cars in an alley. Deputies approached the scene and observed a North Long Beach parolee and acquaintances congregating in a garage. Upon confronting the group, Deputies smelled marijuana. Deputies asked the group to exit the garage but the parolee refused and an argument ensued. The parolee attempted to run past Deputies where a physical struggle occurred. The parolee attempted to reach for the Deputies firearm, at which time Deputies opened fire, striking the parolee several times. The parolee was pronounced dead at the scene.
August 8 - A park ranger was investigating an automobile burglary when a parolee from the Sacramento South Parole Unit walked up and started to speak to the ranger. During the conversation, the parolee took an object he was carrying and struck the ranger in the head. The ranger received minor injuries. While taking the parolee into custody, the parolee spit in one of the officers' face and kicked another officer in the head.
August 8 - In the city of Carson, deputies were in the processes of breaking up a party when a parolee from the Huntington Park 4 Parole Unit began acting suspicious. As the deputies approached, the parolee pulled out a handgun. Deputies attempted to gain control of the parolee's hands when he dropped the handgun. The parolee recovered the handgun and pointed it at the deputies. The deputies shot and killed the parolee.
August 7 - A parolee from the Sac Florin Parole Unit was the driver of vehicle attempting to flee law enforcement . The parolee lost control of the vehicle and crashed into another vehicle with three occupants in it. The parolee was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated and taken to a hospital for moderate injuries. The three occupants suffered minor injuries. There were 432 households left without power as a result of the collision.
August 7 - A parolee from the Escondido 2 Parole Unit was arrested for a Parolee at Large warrant. On July 10, the parolee had a confrontation with her parolee boyfriend when she fired a single shot at him; but missed. The parolee then got into her car and drove in the boyfriend's direction trying to strike him with the car; however, she missed and hit a lawn chair instead. The parolee then drove away from the scene. The boyfriend parolee was uncooperative with police in regard to his girlfriend's involvement; though several witnesses have come forward.
August 5 - A Woodland Parole Unit parolee and his wife were taken into custody after it was determined that the parolee shot and killed a 17-year-old boy following an argument.
August 5 - A San Mateo police officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. The officer noticed an open vodka bottle and the smell of marijuana. A San Jose 2 Parole Unit parolee was the passenger and his non-parolee brother was the driver of the vehicle. The parolee was arrested and charged with False Identification.
August 4 - A parolee from the Sac Metro 1 Parole Unit was captured after leading police on a vehicle chase. The parolee eventually pulled over but then attempted to flee the area. Sacramento police officers observed the parolee enter a house, where he was arrested.
July 2009
JULY 30 - A Fairfield 1 parolee is suspected to have stabbed and killed a 34-year-old male victim. Witnesses report hearing the parolee and observing him leaning over the victim. The parolee left the scene but was arrested later the same day.
JULY 29 - A Fresno 6 parolee-at-large (PAL) was arrested by Clovis police for home invasion robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, residential burglary, possession of a stolen automobile and possession of a firearm.
JULY 26 - Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at the residence of a parolee from the San Bernardino 3 unit. The parolee barricaded himself in the bedroom of his residence, causing police to make a forced entry. The parolee then dove through a plate glass window and ran several hundred yards before police caught up to him. After a brief struggle, he was placed in custody and transported to a local hospital due to severe wounds he received from the broken window. He died at the hospital.
JULY 27 - A parolee from the Inglewood 2 unit was arrested for the murder of a 17-year-old female who was running an errand for her mother. The victim's body was found in her vehicle the next day; she appeared to have suffered blunt trauma injuries to her head.
JULY 27 - A Woodland parolee shot and killed a 17-year-old male during an argument. The parolee fled the scene.
JULY 25 - Petaluma police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle that was being driven by a parolee from the Santa Rosa 2 unit. The parolee failed to yield and led police on a short pursuit. After crashing the vehicle, the parolee ran through several backyards and was located a short time later.
JULY 24 - A Midtown 2 parolee was arrested for murder after allegedly stabbing the victim three times during an argument. The parolee attempted to escape but was detained by witnesses until police arrived.
JULY 23 - As a warrant was being served at the residence of a parolee from the Oakland 3 unit, the parolee attempted to flee through a side door but was arrested. A search of the residence led to the discovery of a .40 caliber semi-auto Glock, a magazine with 12 rounds, .40 caliber ammunition, a taser, samurai swords, 15 pounds of ecstasy pills, and more than $140,000 in cash.
JULY 23 - An Oakland 3 parolee confessed to shooting into an apartment and killing a man in March 2006.
JULY 22 - A Fresno 6 parolee entered an elderly couple's home in Kerman, California, and killed them. A police pursuit ensued, ending in the parolee's vehicle crashing in Fresno. Though the parolee and three passengers fled from the vehicle, the parolee was eventually caught and arrested.
JULY 21 - A parolee from the Sac North Parole Unit was observed by Roseville police officers conducting a drug transaction. As the parolee drove off, police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The parolee then rammed two police vehicles and sped away. After a short pursuit, the parolee stopped the vehicle and was apprehended.
JULY 20 - A parolee-at-large from the Santa Fe Springs 2 unit was arrested in Mexico. The PAL had been sought by law enforcement since September 2000 when he allegedly opened fire on two sheriff's deputies with an AK 47 assault rifle during a routine traffic stop. The parolee-at-large, an American citizen, fled to Mexico following the shooting.
JULY 15 - Oakland police officers exited their vehicle to make contact with a subject they believed was a parolee-at-large from Vallejo. Without provocation, the subject swung a cane at the officers while simultaneously pulling a firearm. The parolee discharged the firearm at the officers who then returned fire, resulting in numerous rounds exchanged between the assailant and the officers. The subject was fatally injured by the officers' rounds.
JULY 15 - A Pasadena 2 parolee led police on a high-speed chase, at times going off the road into oncoming traffic. The parolee eventually exited the vehicle and was apprehended.
JULY 13 - A South Central 4 parolee was arrested on suspicion of bludgeoning a South Los Angeles man to death with a hammer.
JULY 11 - A parolee from the Stockton 4 unit punched a woman in the face while she waited to pick up her children in the parking lot of a movie theater. The parolee then got into the victim's vehicle while pointing a gun at her, drove to a secluded area, and forced the victim to perform oral copulation on him before sodomizing her. The parolee then took the victim back to the theater, picked up the children and took them home. The parolee then drove the victim to an ATM and forcing her to withdraw money. The parolee then drove the victim back to the theater and fled the area. Two days later, the agent of record, along with other law enforcement officers, located the parolee at his residence. The parolee ran out the back of the residence, where Ceres police officers engaged him with beanbag rounds fired from their tactical weapons; he was taken into custody.
JULY 10 - A parolee-at-large from the Santa Ana 3 unit, who is accused of being a Tijuana gang cartel member, was arrested by Mexican soldiers in a Tijuana safe house. Authorities located a large arsenal of weapons, ammunition, marijuana, and bags of caustic soda.
JULY 7 - A Rialto parolee-at-large and an Ontario 3 Unit parolee were arrested for a home invasion robbery in Desert Hot Springs. One of the victims was in the garage, with the garage door open, when one of the suspects approached and asked for directions. The suspect then brandished a handgun, forced the victim to lie down, and tied him up. Both suspects went inside the residence, woke up two other residents and forced them at gunpoint into the garage where they were also tied up. The suspects then took miscellaneous property from the residence, as well as the victim's pickup truck.
JULY 6 - Sacramento police arrested a Fresno 3 parolee-at-large for a robbery and shooting. The parolee shot a male victim several times, and also struck the victim's girlfriend.
JULY 6 - A woman spotted a Pasadena 1 parolee hiding out and watching women in a ladies restroom at a local store. The employees called police but the suspect had left the store. Detectives reviewed a video of the parolee inside the store and later posted fliers of the suspect. The parolee was arrested on July 9 after officers recognized him as someone who was involved in a similar incident earlier in the year.
JULY 5 - An Interstate Compact Supervision parolee from the Stockton 1 unit was arrested for allegedly choking his girlfriend until she lost consciousness, striking her, kicking her, and holding her against her will. Once the parolee left the residence, the victim escaped, flagged down a motorist and authorities were called.
JULY 4 - A parolee from the Long Beach 1 unit sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend before taking her, her 11-year-old daughter, and 6-year-old niece to a gas station where, while armed with a handgun, he attempted to carjack a female motorist. When she resisted, she was shot. During the shooting, the ex-girlfriend escaped. The parolee then left with the two children. Later, the parolee took his mother's car, along with his 1-year-old and 5-year-old sons. The parolee contacted the police and offered to trade some of the children for his ex-girlfriend. When police located the parolee, he ran out carrying a handgun. Shot by police during a foot chase, he was taken to a local hospital. The children were not injured and were returned to their families.
JULY 2 - A parolee from the Fairfield 2 Parole GPS Unit and his wife got into an argument that escalated into a physical altercation. The wife's daughter witnessed this and contacted her father. The parolee left the residence but returned to find the biological father had also arrived at the residence. The parolee then ran his vehicle into the man. With the victim affixed to the hood of the parolee's vehicle, he drove through the garage door and crashed into the living room, pinning the victim between the vehicle and a wall. The parolee then physically assaulted the injured and pinned victim before fleeing the residence. The parolee was later located and arrested.
JULY 2 - A Fairfield 1 parolee was one of two car theft suspects who led police on a short chase, rammed a patrol car, and prompted an hour-long manhunt before they were caught and arrested.
JULY 1 - A Concord 2 parolee-at-large wanted for multiple felony charges was arrested after being spotted driving a stolen vehicle. The parolee led police through several cities until crashing into a light pole. The parolee got out of the vehicle and ran into a nearby neighborhood where he was apprehended by deputies.
JULY 1 - A San Bernardino 1 parolee engaged in a shoot-out with another man. During the incident, a local teenager was fatally shot as he drove through the crossfire. The parolee was also shot and killed during the incident. The other shooter was arrested and is being charged with the teenager's murder.
June 2009
June 30 - A registered sex offender parolee on passive GPS from the Inglewood 4 Parole Unit found a 17-year-old girl's dog. The sex offender parolee called the number listed on the dog's collar and threatened to torture the animal unless she gave him $70 or sexual favors. The girl originally hung up but the sex offender called back. The girl agreed to meet the parolee at a restaurant, where police and the girl's father were waiting for him. The parolee was arrested on suspicion of parole violation for violating his registration requirements and could face other charges.
June 30 - San Bernardino County Sheriffs were dispatched to a residence and discovered two children ages four and eight had been whipped with a belt. The younger child received injuries to his face, chest, shoulder and back. The eight-year-old had been whipped on his arm and back. A parolee from the Moreno Valley 2 Parole Unit was arrested for child cruelty.
June 29 - A Salinas 2 Parole Unit parolee was standing outside a bar when Marina police officers made contact with the parolee. As officers approached the parolee in an attempt to search him, he fled on foot. The parolee was apprehended and held at gunpoint until other officers arrived. The parolee was found to be in possession of a loaded .22 caliber handgun, as well as two loaded magazines.
June 28 - A Costa Mesa Parole Unit parolee armed with a handgun and an unidentified female accomplice attempted a home invasion robbery in Mira Loma. The victim fought with the parolee and caused him to drop the weapon. One of the victims picked up the gun and fatally shot the parolee. The parolee died on the scene and the unidentified female accomplice fled.
June 27 - A Sac Metro 1 Parole Unit parolee stole a vehicle from an Elk Grove gas station. Police attempted a vehicle stop but the parolee failed to yield and crashed into a South Sacramento house. The parolee was apprehended after a failed attempt to flee on foot. The occupants of the residence were not injured.
June 26 - A parolee from the Oakland 2 Parole Unit was one of three gunmen who forced their way into a home, tied up the homeowner and his girlfriend, and stole marijuana, a television and a shotgun. The parolee and an accomplice fled in the homeowner's vehicle and led officers in a vehicle pursuit. The driver jumped out and fled from the vehicle. The parolee got into the driver's seat and fled through San Leandro into Oakland, ran into and destroyed another vehicle and jumped the curb before crashing to a stop.
June 25 - When a fight took place at a Sacramento bar, a security guard attempted to restrain and handcuff the patron who was later identified as a Sac Metro 1 Parole Unit parolee. The parolee grabbed another guard's pepper spray and sprayed the security guard. The guard drew his sidearm and shot the parolee in the leg. The parolee attempted to flee but was caught.
June 24 - Two parolees from the Salinas 2 Parole Unit robbed, and kidnapped a victim who got lost while driving through the city of Salinas. Witnesses called police after seeing the parolees surround the victim and then leave in the victim's vehicle with the victim inside. Responding officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the parolees.
June 22 - A Palm Springs Parole Unit parolee was arrested for burglarizing La Quinta City Hall.
June 20 - An Auburn Parole Unit parolee got into an argument with her boyfriend, refused to allow him to leave their apartment, and repeatedly threatened to kill him. The parolee stabbed the victim in the neck and arm with a pair of scissors. After the stabbing, the parolee left the residence but was later arrested.
June 19 - A high control parolee-at-large from the San Luis Obispo Parole Unit was arrested after a two-hour stand off with Oakland Police's SWAT team. The parolee was wanted in connection with the shooting death of two sisters at an Oakland motel.
June 18 - A parolee from the Bakersfield 7 Parole Unit returned home drunk and began assaulting his wife. The parolee's sons came to their mother's defense. The parolee was struck numerous times. The parolee sustained serious injury and was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
June 17 - Two San Diego parole agents assisted the US Deputy Marshal in arresting a parolee-at-large from the San Diego 3 Parole Unit. The parolee-at-large was resisting and kicking the Deputy Marshal. The parolee-at-large was placed in a parole-caged vehicle for transportation. While in route to the jail and during booking, the parolee-at-large was uncooperative and resistive. The parolee-at-large kicked the rear passenger window, driver's side window and the vehicle's cage. The parolee-at-large was repeatedly instructed to stop his aggressive behavior and warned that pepper spray would be utilized. The parolee-at-large continued his actions, so pepper spray was deployed on three separate occasions with limited effect.
June 17 - A Gold Country Parole Unit parolee was arrested for the shooting death of a male discovered by the United States Forest Service. The parolee was the last person to be seen with the victim and had been seen driving the victim's vehicle, while in possession of a .22 caliber handgun. The investigation indicates that the victim was shot with a .22 caliber handgun.
June 16 - A parolee-at-large from the Sacramento North Parole Unit led police on a high-speed chase while driving a stolen vehicle. The parolee-at-large tried to elude authorities but sideswiped another car, rolled over, broke apart and caused a multiple vehicle crash. The parolee-at-large suffered serious injury and was taken to a local hospital where he subsequently died.
June 3 - A Redding 1 Parole Unit parolee ran from officers after he choked a woman in a Mt. Shasta mall parking lot. The parolee choked the victim and covered her mouth to prevent her from calling for help. When police arrived, the parolee fled and hid in some bushes on the side of the highway. The parolee refused to come out and a K9 was sent in. The parolee suffered bites during the arrest.
June 3 - A Buena Parole Unit parolee entered a private residence Day Care business and robbed the day care provider by holding a gun against her head while she was holding an infant. When the victim's husband got home the parolee held him at gunpoint. The woman victim was able to call police and the parolee fled the residence. Responding officers located the parolee hiding in a nearby vacant apartment and found a stolen .40 caliber semiautomatic handgun.
June 1 - After robbing a bank and being cornered in a parking structure, a parolee from the Pasadena 1 Parole Unit jumped off the top of the five-story parking structure. During the robbery the parolee told the teller he had a gun but no weapon was recovered. The parolee suffered multiple fractures.
May 2009
May 30 - A Santa Maria Parole Unit parolee and an accomplice robbed a market and were spotted by police as they were leaving. The driver saw the officers and began to speed up. During the vehicle pursuit, the suspects threw several items from the car including a sawed off shotgun. The vehicle eventually stopped and the suspects were taken into custody.
May 26 - A San Jose 5 Parole Unit parolee led CHP on a high-speed chase on residential streets that reached speeds of over 100mph. The chase ended when the parolee crashed into a tree and he was severed at the waist. The parolee was pronounced dead at the scene.
May 23 - Police responded to a burglary in progress in Vacaville. A man exited the store and ran to his truck where a parolee from the Fairfield 1 Parole Unit was waiting. The man drove his truck through the parking lot and struck a bystander in an attempt to flee. An officer on the scene attempted to stop the suspect at gunpoint, but the suspect attempted to strike the officer with his truck. The officer was able to avoid being struck. A vehicle pursuit ensued reaching speeds of 75 miles per hour through Vacaville and Elmira. The pursuit ended when the driver lost control of the truck and crashed into a fence. Both suspects fled the accident scene. A perimeter was established and both suspects were taken into custody and charged with burglary, assault, evading police and hit and run.
May 20 - FBI agents arrested a parolee from the Sacramento South Parole Unit and non-parolee on charges that they planted a homemade destructive device outside the United States Courthouse in Sacramento. The devise was placed at the door of a guard booth where vehicles exit the buildings underground garage.
May 19 - An El Monte 3 Parole Unit parolee-at-large was arrested after a four-hour standoff. The parolee-at-large, wanted in connection with two armed robberies, refused to exit his vehicle. Tear gas was introduced into the vehicle and a canine was used to aid in the arrest.
May 19 - A Parolee from the Santa Fe Springs 3 Parole Unit battered an elderly woman in her home after she requested that he leave. The following day, the parolee reported to the parole complex. At that time, the AOR made arrangement to place the parolee into custody. The parolee was observed attempting to leave the parole complex and was given instructions to stop. The parolee refused and attempted to leave the building. Two parole agents made initial physical contact with the parolee in an attempt to place him into custody. The parolee resisted and a scuffle ensued. Additional parole agent's responded and force was used to gain compliance. Two agents sustained injuries and were treated at a local medical facility.
May 18 - An Oakland Parole Unit parolee and three other accomplishes opened fire on a victim in Berkeley, killing the victim instantly. The four suspects fled the scene in a Cadillac, with Berkley police in pursuit. The suspects ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle, killing the driver. The hit vehicle then struck a pedestrian, killing the pedestrian as well. Police found two assault rifles in the assailant's vehicle. The driver and parolee were arrested with two additional suspects remaining at large.
May 18 - A Stockton 4 Parole Unit parolee allegedly attacked someone who interrupted him stealing tools. The parolee grabbed a shovel and began hitting the victim several times, causing minor injuries. The parolee fled the scene, but was apprehended by police.
May 18 - A Sac Metro 1 Parole Unit parolee was shot and killed while in the process of burglarizing a Sacramento business.
May 16 - A parolee from the Merced Parole Unit was transported to a local hospital after he cut his forearm. Merced police responded to the hospital because the parolee told staff that he may have to hurt his roommate. Officers arrived and found the parolee's roommate stabbed and bludgeoned to death. The parolee was booked on murder charges.
May 14 - A parolee-at-large from the El Monte 2 Parole Unit refused to stop for a traffic violation. Police were then led on a high-speed chase on freeways and surface streets. The parolee-at-large eventually slammed into another vehicle and fled on foot. He later surrendered and was taken into custody.
May 13 - Oakland PACT received information that a wanted parolee-at-large from the San Leandro Parole Unit was seen walking down the street in Oakland and had just entered a bank. The parolee-at-large had been identified as a primary suspect in seven other bank robberies in Dublin, San Leandro, Oakland and San Francisco areas. The Oakland PACT responded to the bank and arrested the parolee-at-large in the process of robbing the bank. The parolee-at-large had a simulated weapon inside a pillowcase.
May 7 - A second striker parolee from the Modesto 2 Parole Unit broke into an apartment and shot a female occupant several times. The victim survived her injuries to the leg, arm and hip.
May 7 - A Bakersfield 4 Parole Unit parolee was arrested for attempted murder. The parolee allegedly used a knife to cut the throat of a victim.
May 7 - A Citrus Heights police officer attempted to stop a vehicle. When the officer activated lights and sirens, the vehicle stopped in the middle of the street and the driver ran. Police later discovered the vehicle had been stolen. After setting up a perimeter, the driver, who was a parolee from the Sacramento North Parole Unit, was located inside a residence. The parolee was booked on charges of auto theft, obstruction of justice and possession of drug paraphernalia.
May 6 - Several suspects entered the home of a Butter County Sheriff's Lieutenant and stole several weapons and jewelry. A parolee from the Oroville Parole Unit and his girlfriend were identified as the primary suspects. The following day, the sheriff's department received information that the parolee was armed and barricaded inside a residence. Following a four-hour standoff, the Crisis Negotiation Team was able to coerce the parolee out of the residence without further incident. The weapons and jewelry have not been recovered.
May 5 - A parolee from the Stockton 1 Parole Unit was arrested on suspicion of murder, assault with a deadly weapon, being a felon in possession of a weapon and a gang enhancement. The parolee and his cousin went to the victim's home to settle a dispute but then beat him. The victim was hospitalized and died the next day.
May 4 - A victim and a parolee from the Sacramento Metro 4 Parole Unit exchanged words before gunshots were heard. The victim tried to run from the parolee but the parolee chased him through an apartment complex. The parolee was arrested on suspicion of murder and violating his parole.
May 4 - Tehama County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a civil dispute and observed a parolee from the Redding 2 Parole Unit run into a fifth-wheel trailer and lock the door. The parolee eventually surrendered without incident. A search of the trailer revealed a parolee-a-large from the Redding 1 Parole Unit. A subsequent search of the trailer revealed a Ruger .22 caliber rifle, two billy-clubs, processed marijuana, nine growing marijuana plants, methamphetamine, scales, packaging material, syringes, ecstasy pills and methamphetamine smoking pipes.
May 3 - A Richmond Parole Unit parolee was identified as the suspect responsible for the shooting of a 32-year-old male. The parolee allegedly shot the victim in the face. The victim was air lifted to a trauma center where he later died.
May 2 - A parolee from the Fairfield 1 Parole Unit was arrested for possession of one-half pounds of crystal methamphetamine.
May 2 - A control services parolee-at-large from the Moreno Valley 4 Parole Unit was arrested for vehicle theft in the city of Beaumont.

April 30 - The Los Angles Sheriff Department has arrested two men and a woman, one is a parolee from the Huntington Park 4 Parole Unit, in connection with a shooting at a taco stand that killed a 59-year-old man and wounded five others.
April 30 - A parolee-at-large from the Oxnard Parole Unit is wanted in connection with an April 13, 2009, shooting. The parolee-at-large and an accomplice shot six rounds into the car of a 26-year-old man, hitting him in the abdomen and injuring a 22-year-old female, who was struck by broken glass. Both victims were treated and later released.
April 27 - The Orange County Sheriff's Department received a report of a male who appeared to be watching young girls while driving a van around a park. Deputies responded to the park and located the van, which was occupied by a high risk sex offender parolee from the Santa Ana 2 Parole Unit. The parolee was in violation of his special condition of parole that prohibits him from being within 100 yards of places where children congregate. The parolee was arrested.
April 25 - A Salinas 2 Parole Unit parolee was arrested for attempted homicide. The parole was walking with the victim when they got into an argument. The parolee hit the victim with a beer bottle and began kicking the victim in the head.
April 25 - A Fontana Parole Unit parolee was arrested after he led police in a high-speed chase. Officers tried to stop the vehicle for traffic violations but the parolee failed to yield. As the parolee fled, he threw a pound of marijuana out of the vehicle. The parolee abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was captured after a short pursuit.
April 23 - A parolee from the Salinas 2 Parole Unit was arrested the same day he was released from the Alameda County Jail. Salinas police officers conducted a parole compliance search of the parolee's residence and found a loaded .357 caliber revolver and gang indicia.
April 22 - A Stockton 1 Parole Unit second striker parolee was arrested for a bank robbery.
April 22 - A sex offender parolee from the Antelope Valley 1 Parole Unit made several attempted to carjack vehicles and eventually managed to carjack a victim. Lancaster Sheriff's deputies responded to several carjacking calls and a deputy arrived to see the stolen vehicle driving away. The parolee attempted to flee but lost control and crashed.
April 21 - A San Fernando Valley 4 Parole Unit parolee was arrested as the perpetrator of a March 2009 stabbing of a man in Huntington Beach. The parolee and a group of four men had a confrontation over the treatment of a woman who was not with either group. The victim walked away and the parolee chased him down and stabbed him. Police found the victim clinging to life, but he survived.
April 21 - A non-serious/non-violent parolee and his sister were charged with the November 2007, murder of a Canadian man in Indio. The parolee was assigned to the Indio Parole unit at the time of the murder. The parolee and his sister are accused of putting a plastic bag over the victim's head to get the pin number to his bank account before killing him.
April 21 - A parolee from the Escondido Parole Unit was arrested for carjacking. The parolee grabbed the victim by the neck as he entered the vehicle and threatened to shoot him. The victim complied with the parolee's demands. The parolee drove off and was later found sitting in the vehicle, on a freeway shoulder, under the influence of a controlled substance.
April 21 - Two high control parolees from the Salinas 2 Parole Unit were arrested for robbing a gas station convenience store. The two parolees were arrested after leading police in a vehicle pursuit.
April 19 - A non-serious/non-violent parolee-at-large from the Santa Maria Parole Unit was arrested after a short vehicle pursuit. Santa Maria police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop of the parolee-at-large's vehicle but he refused to yield and led officers on a short pursuit. During the pursuit a handgun was thrown from the vehicle. The parolee-at-large crashed the vehicle and ran into an apartment and hid in the bathroom. Officers were led to the apartment by its residents and the parolee-at-large was arrested.
April 19 - A parolee-at-large from the Santa Maria Parole Unit used a female accomplice to lure a victim to a parking lot as part of a scheme to rob him. The parolee shot the victim in the knee and arm with a small caliber weapon and then fled without getting any money. The parolee's whereabouts remains unknown.
April 18 - A Concord 2 Parole Unit parolee-at-large was arrested for a home invasion robbery and beating death of the home's resident.
April 18 - A San Gabriel Valley 1 Parole Unit parolee and an accomplice broke into a vehicle and then led sheriff's on a high-speed chase through the cities of Victorville and Adelanto. Both men abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot. They were both arrested after a short foot pursuit.
April 17 - A second striker parolee-at-large from the Riverside 3 Parole Unit was arrested on two warrants for attempted murder, street terrorism, being in a criminal street gang, use of firearm, having a firearm on school grounds and assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
April 17 - A second striker parolee from the Concord 1 Parole Unit led police on a pursuit when an officer spotted him driving a stolen vehicle and attempted to pull him over. The parolee tried to run from the car but did not put it in park and became entangled. The parolee was slowly dragged 20 feet before the vehicle crashed into a parked car. The parolee fought with officers and was eventually Tasered and taken into custody.
April 17 - A high-risk sex offender parolee-at-large from the Stockton 2 Parole Unit barricaded himself in an apartment complex. The Ceres Police Department's SWAT surrounded the complex and requested the assistance of parole agents to help deal with the situation. SWAT negotiated with the parolee-at-large who later surrendered.
April 17 - A San Gabriel Valley 1 Parole Unit parolee entered a liquor store, brandished a weapon and stole $140 cash. Police set up a perimeter and the parolee was arrested a short time later.
April 16 - A sex offender parolee-at-large from the Fairfield 2 Parole Unit cut off his GPS bracelet and discarded it near the area and approximate time that a murder took place in Vallejo.
April 16 - A Hayward Parole Unit parolee was arrested after leading police on a 90-minute chase through the East Bay. The parolee led Fremont police, CHP officers and a CHP helicopter on a chase in a stolen box truck. The pursuit ended when officers deployed a spike strip, which flattened the truck's front tires.
April 16 - A second striker parolee from the Oakland 3 Parole Unit was arrested in connection with two robberies and a possible carjacking. The parolee was arrested at his residence after information was developed that identified him as the suspect who robbed two victims at a local gas station. At the time of his arrest, the parolee was entering a vehicle that had been reported stolen in an earlier carjacking.
April 16 - A non-serious/non-violent parolee-at-large from the Moreno Valley 5 Parole Unit was shot and killed by a Riverside County sheriff's deputy after leading CHP officers and then sheriff's deputies on an eight-mile pursuit. The parolee-at-large failed to yield and led the officer on the pursuit that ended when the parolee-at-large accelerated his truck toward the deputy.
April 15 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee from the Richmond Parole Unit was charged with the February 3, 2009, stalking and killing of a 19-year-old Richmond prostitute. The parolee shot and killed the victim and left her body beside train tracks.
April 15 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee from the Stockton 4 Parole Unit and an accomplice approached a 41-year-old male, who was sitting in his parked vehicle, and used a gun to take the victim and the vehicle. During a nearly four-hour ordeal, the victim was forced to drive to several banks and attempt to remove cash from his account. Later, the victim was forced out of his vehicle, tied up and forced into the vehicle's trunk. The parolee and his accomplice then drove to the victim's home and burglarized it. While the burglary was in progress, the victim was able to escape to a neighbor's home and called police. The parolee and accomplice fled in the victim's vehicle prior to the police's arrival. A short time later the vehicle was located and a short pursuit ensued that resulted in a crash. The parolee and accomplice attempted to flee on foot but were captured and arrested. The two men were charged with armed carjacking, kidnapping, robbery and first-degree burglary.
April 15 - Two Proposition 36 eligible parolees from the Red Bluff Parole Unit were arrested after an hours-long standoff with Red Bluff police.
April 14 - An Antelope Valley 1 Parole Unit parolee crashed his van into a vehicle and jumped into the vehicle's backseat and kidnapped the female driver and forced her to drive from the scene of the crash. The parolee ordered the victim to drive onto a freeway but she refused, brought the vehicle to a stop and a struggle ensued as the victim attempted to flee. The parolee exited the vehicle and unsuccessfully attempted to jump into another vehicle. CHP officers caught up with the parolee at a gas station where he was surrounded and eventually arrested.
April 14 - An Proposition 36 eligible parolee-at-large from the El Monte 3 Parole Unit and an accomplice were arrested in connection with the April 11, 2009, murder of two teens and the attempted murder of four others at a motel.
April 13 - An Orange 2 Parole Unit parolee was arrested at his residence after he tried to pull his parole agent onto his motel room bed, in an attempt to "embrace" the AOR. The AOR requested assistance from police. As police took the parolee from the room, a search led to the discovery of two boxes of live .38 caliber ammunition, no gun was found.
April 13 - A high control parolee from the Stockton 1 Parole Unit was arrested for the shooting death of a 19-year-old and the wounding of his brother who was another high control parolee from the same parole unit. The parolee was positively identified as the shooter and was arrested without incident. The wounded victim was treated at a local hospital.
April 10 - A Sacramento Natomas Parole Unit parolee and an accomplice were arrested for the robbery and stabbing death of a man living his car at a Carmichael park.
April 10 - Members of Monterey County Joint Gang Task Force attempted to contact a gang member parolee from the Salinas 2 Parole Unit at a Salinas apartment complex. As the officers called out to the parolee, he ignored them, walked away and got inside a car. As one of the deputies reached into the car and attempted to pull the parolee out of the car, the parolee started the car and backed up knocking the deputy to the ground and running over his shoulder and arm. The parolee fled the area and is still at large. The deputy was flown to a San Francisco hospital and was released the following day, after being treated for a dislocated shoulder and a broken clavicle.
April 9 - An off duty Chula Vista parole agent was assaulted while at a local business. Chula Vista police and parole agents responded to the business. The agent was not seriously injured. Chula Vista police are investigating the incident.
April 8 - A high control gang member parolee from the Sacramento Metro 3 Parole Unit was arrested, after a foot chase, for an armed robbery. A Sacramento police officer was injured during the chase.
April 8 - A discharged parolee led police on a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 80 after authorities attempted to arrest him. The pursuit ended when CHP used a spike strip to deflate the vehicle's tires. Once the vehicle was stopped, a standoff ensued and I80 was closed in both directions for more than six hours. The discharged parolee was armed with a shotgun and held his wife and three children hostage during much of the standoff. No one was injured during the standoff.
April 8 - A Berkeley 2 Parole Unit parolee was arrested for his participation in a shooting between himself and a vehicle that drove by his location. The parolee suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was hospitalized.
April 8 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee from the Chula Vista 3 Parole Unit was arrested in connection with a February 13, attempted armed robbery of a coin shop during which his accomplice was shot and killed when he exchanged gun fire with the store's employees.
April 7 - A high-risk sex offender parolee, who was discharged from parole supervision because he reached his State Max discharge date, walked up to a female in the Oceanside area and stabbed her to death. The discharged parolee then sat down and waited for the police to arrive. The parolee had been discharged from parolee for 17 days.
April 7 - A Sacramento Florin Parole Unit parolee was arrested in connection with the February 14, theft of Lance Armstrong's time-trial bike. The bike was one of three stolen from a rental truck parked behind a hotel.
April 7 - A GPS high-risk sex offender parolee from the Fairfield 2 Parole Unit had been involved in an assault with a deadly weapon incident. The agent of record used the GPS tools and determined the parolee's location. During the arrest, the parolee became resistive and a Taser was utilized to overcome the parolee's resistance.
April 7 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee from the San Leandro Parole Unit was arrested for 13 different Oakland and San Leandro armed robberies. The agent of record positively identified the parolee in numerous surveillance photos taken during the robberies. A search of the parolee's girlfriend's house led to the discovery of a revolver that matches the gun used during the armed robberies.
April 5 - Two suspects, including a parolee from the Sacramento North Parole Unit were arrested on drug and other charges during a routine traffic stop. Officers searched the vehicle and found a bag of methamphetamine, narcotics paraphernalia and "shaved keys", commonly used in the theft of vehicles.
April 5 - During the execution of a search warrant on a gang member parolee from the Fresno 4 Parole Unit authorities located marijuana, electronic scales, packaging materials and gang paraphernalia in the parolee's residence. Additionally, a search of parolee's rented storage unit led to the discovery of 300 rounds of ammunition, guns, assault rifles, shotguns and military-style body armor.
April 5 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee from the Fullerton Parole Unit was arrested after leading authorities in a chase, which contributed to a police involved crash that killed a husband and wife who were on their way to church. The parolee was arrested later in the day, after a standoff with police in an apartment complex where he had barricaded himself.
April 3 - A Concord 2 Parole Unit parolee was arrested in connection with the April 1 shooting death of a man. The victim, who had been in an argument with the parolee, was shot several times with a handgun.
April 3 - A San Leandro Parole Unit parolee was arrested for possession of approximately $13,000 worth of bicycles from stores in San Francisco, Berkley, Sausalito and Fairfield using a stolen credit card. The parolee also bought approximately $4,200 worth of jewelry and clothes from a department store. The parolee utilized Craig's List to sell the items. The parolee is charged with credit card fraud, grand theft, burglary, illegal use of credit card and violation of parole.
April 1 - A minimum supervision parolee from the Visalia 1 Parole Unit was arrested for felony hit and run causing injury, misdemeanor hit and run. The parolee rear ended a vehicle and then struck a parked car as he fled the scene. Two victims were injured in the crash. Witnesses followed the parolee to a local motel and called police. The parolee was arrested and booked into the Tulare County Jail.
April 1 - During an Inglewood 2 Parole Unit office visit, a parolee became resistant and required the use of departmentally approved force to gain custody.
March 2009
March 30 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee from the Orange 3 Parole Unit was driving a stolen vehicle when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop for speeding. The parolee sped up to about 100 mph and eventually crashed through a security gate at an apartment complex and drove into a carport. The parolee jumped out of the vehicle going about 30 mph and the van crashed into a parked car. The parolee was taken to a local hospital.
March 29 - A parolee from the Santa Cruz Parole Unit and a 19-year-old accomplice were in the process of burglarizing a home when the family arrived home. The parolee pointed an assault rifle at one of the adults, which led to a struggle causing the gun to go off. The parolee and the accomplice gained control of the situation and the victims were bound, gagged and blindfolded. The parolee and the accomplice then continued to vandalize the home, and took items including an assault rifle. They fled from the scene in a stolen vehicle. The female victim was able to untie herself and dial 911. The parolee and the accomplice eventually abandoned the vehicle but were tracked down and arrested.
March 27 - A Stockton 3 Parole Unit parolee led officers on a high-speed chase. The parolee was driving a stolen vehicle when Lathrop police attempted a traffic stop but he failed to yield. The parolee led officers on a pursuit that ended when the CHP used immobilization techniques and the parolee crashed into a concrete wall. The parolee suffered injuries to his face and neck.
March 26 - A parolee-at-large from the Sacramento Metro 1 Parole Unit led police on a high-speed chase with her 5-year-old son in the back seat of the vehicle. CHP attempted to arrest the parolee-at-large in connection with a stolen vehicle. The parolee-at-large used her vehicle to ram one of the CHP vehicles before speeding away and eventually crashed her vehicle into a house. The parolee-at-large then fled leaving her son in the vehicle. The child was injured during the crash, sustaining minor head injuries and a bloody nose. The parolee-at-large was caught after a foot chase.
March 25 - A parolee from the San Leandro Parole Unit approached an 85-year-old man at a BART Station and threw him to the ground. The victim got up and the parolee threw him to the ground again. The victim suffered lacerations to his face but did not require hospital treatment. The parolee was located and arrested a block away from the incident.
March 25 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee-at-large from the Santa Maria Parole Unit was arrested after a two-hour standoff that began with a hit and run. The parolee-at-large barricaded himself inside the garage of his residence and had to be forcibly removed. The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department utilized a K-9 who bit the parolee-at-large and deputies used a Taser to finally gain control.
March 23 - A parolee-at-large from the East Bay Parole Unit was found shot to death.
March 21 - During a routine traffic stop, a parolee-at-large from the Oakland 1 Parole Unit shot and killed an Oakland police officer. After the shooting, he fled the area and was subsequently located in a nearby apartment complex. Police surrounded the area and engaged in a shootout with the parolee-at-large; resulting in the shooting deaths of three additional police officers. The parolee-at-large was killed.
March 19 - An Oakland 1 Parole Unit parolee and another unidentified man attempted to rob a store. At some point during the robbery a physical confrontation developed between the two assailants and some of the store customers. The unidentified man fired a handgun and struck three of the customers. The unidentified man fled the scene and has not been located. The parolee was subdued by the customers and subsequently arrested.
March 17 - A Bakersfield 7 Parole Unit parolee, along with two other suspects, was arrested for armed robbery. The victim was approached by the group of men and was robbed of money and was then struck with a pistol-grip shotgun. The suspects then left the area in a vehicle. The victim followed the suspects in his car and contacted the Bakersfield Police Department. Shortly thereafter, police saw a vehicle fitting the description and two of the suspects were taken into custody. The parolee ran into a house but was also apprehended.
March 15 - An Ontario 2 Parole Unit parolee was arrested after she shot her 24-year-old daughter. San Bernardino police responded to reports of gunfire and discovered the victim suffering from a serious gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital where she is in critical condition.
March 15 - A high control parolee-at-large from the Auburn Parole Unit was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by police. The parolee-at-large who was wanted in connection with a robbery and an assault with deadly weapon with injury, got out of the vehicle and ran onto a city street. The parolee-at-large entered the rear seat of a vehicle that was stopped at a light and ordered the two female occupants to exit the vehicle. However, pursuing officers reached the vehicle and arrested him.
March 14 - A Red Bluff Parole Unit parolee was arrested after he led police in a vehicle pursuit through city streets. The parolee, who was driving a stolen vehicle, failed to yield to police and sped away. After a two-mile pursuit, the parolee fled from the vehicle but was arrested after a foot pursuit.
March 14 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee from the Bakersfield 4 Parole Unit was involved in a fistfight where he punched the victim on the side of the face, rending him unconscious. The victim was taken to the hospital where it was determined that the victim had sustained a fracture to the lower portion of his skull and bruising to the brain. The parolee was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail. Later the same day, the victim died of the injuries suffered during the fight.
March 14 - A second striker parolee from the San Bernardino 4 Parole Unit was shot and killed. The San Bernardino Police Department is investigating the death.
March 12 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee from the Moreno Valley 4 Parole Unit was charged with the homicide of a high control parolee from the Fullerton Parole Unit. The victim parolee was reported missing on December 31, 2008. Phone records revealed that the victim spoke to the assailant parolee and the victim's car was discovered at the assailant's residence. The victim's wallet was also found in the parolee's employer's trashcan. Authorities obtained a search warrant and discovered the victim's blood within the parolees' residence.
March 12 - A sex offender parolee from the San Luis Obispo Parole Unit walked away from his board and care facility. The agent of record showed up at the facility to conduct a home visit and discovered that he had walked away. The agent immediately searched the area with the assistance of Santa Maria Police. The parolee was located walking a shopping mall area. The parolee was searched and was found in possession of nude photographs of children.
March 11 - A high risk sex offender from the Salinas 1 Parole Unit was arrested for felony indecent exposure.
March 10 - A second striker parolee from the Visalia 1 Parole Unit was arrested for having a sexual relationship with his two minor daughters.
March 9 - A parolee-at-large and a second striker from the Redding 2 Parole Unit were arrested after they led police on a high-speed chase. The two parolees were observed driving off in a stolen vehicle, authorities attempted to stop the vehicle but the second striker parolee refused to yield leading Siskiyou County Sheriff's deputies and CHP officers in a chase that ended after spike strips were used and the vehicle eventually crashed.
March 9 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee from the Eureka Parole Unit was arrested in connection with a string of home and vehicle burglaries.
March 9 - A high control parolee from the San Bernardino 3 Parole Unit shot two men during a fight, which involved two groups of men at a night club. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene; the second victim was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition. The parolee fled the area. An arrest warrant has been issued.
March 7 - Two parolees from the Eureka Parole Unit are two of four suspects being sought in an armed home invasion robbery. Both parolee's parole has been suspended and their whereabouts are currently unknown.
March 6 - A high control parolee-at-large from the Mid Town 2 Parole Unit and a 17-year-old girl were taken into custody in connection with a chase that led to a deputy-involved shooting in Carson. The parolee was a passenger in a vehicle that was being driven by a suspected drunken driver. After a short chase, the suspects' vehicle crashed and the male driver and two passengers exited the vehicle. The male passenger exited the car, tripped and fell to the ground and a handgun fell out of his waistband. The parolee immediately picked up the weapon and pointed it at the deputies, prompting both deputies to open fire at the armed man. All three suspects ran from the scene. No one was wounded by the gunfire. A canine unit led deputies to a parked van where the parolee and the teenage girl were hiding.
March 6 - A parolee-at-large from the Santa Rosa 2 Parole Unit was located in a vehicle and refused to exit. When agents reached into the vehicle the parolee-at-large closed the window trapping the arms of two agents. Another agent entered the vehicle and use force to gain control of the parolee-at-large. The parolee-at-large resisted arrest and suffered a scrape on his chin and forehead.
March 6 - A parolee from the Sacramento Florin Parole Unit crashed her vehicle into a South Sacramento home while fleeing from police. The parolee was among a group of women who participated in lynching another woman.
March 5 - A Proposition 36 eligible parolee-at-large from the El Cajon 1 Parole Unit robbed a jewelry store at gunpoint and took $50,000 worth of diamond rings. The parolee-at-large was arrested on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.
March 5 - A Redding 2 Parole Unit parolee was arrested after he was discovered committing a lewd act in public and indecent exposure while in his vehicle.
March 5 - A parolee from the Long Beach 2 Parole Unit was discovered dead after neighbors heard a shot and saw a man down. The parolee suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
March 4 - A San Leandro Parole Unit parolee was arrested in connection with a November 2008 attack on a 74-year-old woman that left her with a collapsed lung, a broken jaw, a dislocated elbow, a bloody nose and numerous bruises. The parolee broke into the woman's residence, jumped onto her bed, held her down by the throat, beat her and fled with the victim's purse. Deputies tracked the parolee after he bought items with the victim's credit cards. The parolee was found with the woman's belonging in his home at the time of his arrest.
March 4 - A parolee from the Stockton 3 Parole Unit was shot and killed at the San Joaquin County Courthouse when he attacked the judge overseeing his trial. The parolee was standing trial for the stabbing death of his girlfriend. During a break in the trial, the parolee stood up and walked behind the bench and began attacking the judge punching her and stabbing her with an unspecified stabbing weapon. A Lodi police detective who was in court observing the trial killed the parolee.
March 3 - A Merced Parole Unit parolee and a female accomplice were arrested after a homeowner caught them burglarizing his home. The parolee drove away but was later identified and arrested, property from the residential burglary was located at the parolee residence.
March 3 - A Riverside 3 Parole Unit parolee, intentionally and with malice, backed his vehicle into his agent-of-record's state vehicle at a high rate of speed, while the agent was sitting in the vehicle. The parolee's vehicle struck the front of the state vehicle and he fled the scene. The parolee was able to evade arrest and his whereabouts is currently unknown
March 3 - A Richmond Parole Unit high control parolee is being sought as the shooter in the death of a 30-year-old man. An arrest warrant has been issued.
March 2 - A high control parolee from the Salinas 1 Parole Unit beat his wife and slit her throat with a kitchen knife. The victim was treated at a local hospital and released. The parolee's whereabouts is currently unknown.
February 2009
February 28 – A Pomona 1 Parole Unit parolee and an accomplice were arrested on suspicion of murder. Authorities had responded to a report of shots fired at a local motel, where a woman was found deceased with multiple gun shot wounds. A tip led to the arrest of both men and the recovery of the gun.
February 28 – Cathedral City police received a call regarding a man flashing a gun near a convenience store. Cathedral City officers arrived at the scene and observed the suspected later identified as a minimum supervision parolee from the Palm Springs Parole Unit, in a vehicle. Police attempted to contact the parolee but he jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. During the subsequent foot pursuit, the parolee was shot by police. The parolee was taken to a medical center where he remains in intensive care.
February 27 – Proposition 36 eligible parolee-at-large from the Sacramento North Parole Unit was arrested on felony warrant and narcotics charges. An investigation found that the parolee-at-large is responsible for four bank robberies in the Sacramento region.
February 26 – A high control parolee from the Richmond Parole Unit is the prime suspect in a kidnapping and rape case in San Pablo. On January 20, the parolee was arrested by El Cerrito police on unrelated charges of robbery, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm and operating a vehicle without the owners consent. The parolee is currently serving a 12-month revocation period unrelated to the January 20 arrest.
February 26 – A Proposition 36 eligible parolee from the Concord 2 Parole Unit is a suspect in a car theft. The parolee is one of three men involved in stripping a car.
February 24 – A Eureka Parole Unit parolee was found outside his trailer suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Neighbors reported that they heard a gunshot and witnessed a car speeding away. Humboldt County Sheriff's responded and found the parolee lying on the ground outside his trailer. Investigators determined he had been shot inside the residence and made his way outside where he was found.
February 24 – Prop 36 eligible parolee from the Concord 2 Parole Unit was arrested after leading police on a pursuit from Pleasant Hill to San Ramon. The owner of the stolen vehicle the parolee was driving contacted police and an officer attempted to pull it over. The parolee refused to yield and led multiple police agencies in the pursuit that ended when the parolee drove into a dead end street.
February 23 – A parolee from the USICE 3 Parole Unit, who was deported two years ago, along with a parolee from the Van Nuys 1 Parole Unit were stripping an automobile outside a home when they were confronted by the home's resident. The two parolees got in their vehicle and started to leave the scene when the resident fired a shot hitting the deported parolee in the upper back. The deported parolee was driven to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
February 21 – A Victorville 2 Parole Unit parolee led sheriff's deputies on a 14-mile high-speed pursuit that reached speeds of 100 miles per hour through residential streets and front yards before the parolee crashed the stolen vehicle.
February 11 – Prop 36 eligible parolee from Oakland 1 Parole Unit is suspected of being involved in a December 2008, murder that occurred in the City of Berkeley. The victim was shot sometime prior to the December 29 date that the body was discovered. Attempts to locate and arrest the parolee failed. Parole has been suspended and the parolee's whereabouts are currently unknown.
February 10 - A gang member parolee from the San Francisco 3 Parole Unit was arrested for the murder of a San Francisco man. The victim had filed a police report that his apartment had been burglarized of property and a pit bull puppy. One the same day the victim was beaten by a group of people affiliated to the gang, in retaliation for reporting the crime. That evening in an unrelated action, San Francisco police raided a residence and seized drugs, recovered the victim's dog and arrested several gang members. The victim was shot approximately 9 times when he met with the parolee to make sure the gang knew that he did not have anything to do with the raid.
February 10 – The Santa Cruz Police Department, with the assistance from the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office and the United States Secret Service busted a sophisticated counterfeit money operation at a Santa Cruz motel. A parolee-at-large from the San Jose 2 Parole Unit was arrested and identified as the primary suspect. Authorities confiscated $5,000 in counterfeit cash. The parolee-at-large is suspected of passing fake bills in denominations of $5, $10, $20 and $100 at businesses and garage sales from Watsonville to San Francisco.
February 10 – A Redding 2 Parole Unit parolee-at-large was arrested for drunken driving and being a felon in possession of a handgun after he allegedly tried to flee the scene of an accident. Police responded to a non-injury traffic accident and found the parolee-at-large attempting to drive away. The parolee-at-large was arrested and taken to a medical center before being booked into the Shasta County Jail.
February 10 – The agent of record conducted a home visit of a parolee from the San Jose 4 Parole Unit, when the agent noticed a light colored galvanized pipe, threaded and capped on each end with what appeared to be a fuse coming out of one end lying on a coffee table. The agent removed the device from the residence and notified authorities. The San Jose Police Department Bomb Squad took charge of the situation and exploded the object.
February 8 – A San Jose 4 Parole Unit parolee was arrested for murder in the first degree. Preliminary reports indicate San Jose police arrested the parolee after he shot and killed a cousin.
February 7 – A Honda Civic, computers, a television and other items were stolen from a Concord home. Police located the stolen Civic at a nearby residence and served a search warrant that led to the recovery of a large amount of stolen property. Three parolees from the Concord 1 Parole Unit were located at the residence. They were arrested and are being held at the Martinez Jail.
February 6 – A Vallejo Parole Unit parolee was arrested by Fairfield police after kicking in the front door of a business. A Fairfield police K-9 officer and his dog located the parolee hiding in the store's attic. The parolee was arrested and booked into the county jail.
February 4 – A high-risk sex offender parolee from the Sacramento Metro 3 Unit reported to the parole unit to charge his GPA unit. While charging the unit in his agent's office, the parolee was questioned regarding his activities. The parolee became agitated, grabbed the charging unit and lunged directly at one of the agents with the unit extended over his head in a striking motion. Agents intervened to stop the parolee's attack and he resisted violently; flailing his arms striking one of the agents in the chest. Several agents responded to the office due to the commotion. Several agents pinned the parolee to the floor while he continued to resist. The parolee was placed in handcuffs and leg restraints and transported to the county jail. There were no injuries to agents or the parolee.
February 4 – A parolee from the Costa Mesa Parole Unit was arrested after a burglary attempt. The parolee was observed and confronted by a resident of an apartment complex that had been experiencing burglaries. The parolee fled; leaving a backpack containing tools behind. Another apartment complex resident followed him and alerted police to his whereabouts. The parolee evaded police for several hours by hiding in a drain spillway and sewage pipe. The parolee surrendered after police threatened to send a police K-9 into the sewage pipe.
January 2009
January 26 - A high control parolee from the Fresno 4 Parole Unit was arrested by Fresno police responding to a call of shots fired. The police recovered a .25-caliber handgun.
January 26 - While officers patrolled a public housing project to enforce curfew violations, a Pasadena 1 Parole Unit parolee pulled a shotgun and began firing at officers. When officers fired back, the parolee dropped the shotgun and ran. The parolee again pulled out another handgun and shot at officers and who returned fire. The parolee was shot in the arm and was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
January 25 - A San Gabriel Valley 1 Parole unit parolee was arrested after he surrendered to police following a chase in which he tried to ram an officer. The parolee was booked for evading police, drunken driving, hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance and assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
January 24 - As Torrance police attempted to arrest two suspects who were sitting in a vehicle, the driver accelerated toward an officer causing him to be thrown onto the hood of the vehicle. As the vehicle continued to move, the officer fired shots hitting the passenger in the hand before he was thrown from the hood of the vehicle. The suspects fled the area but the passenger of the vehicle was found in a nearby neighborhood and arrested. The driver had been identified as a parolee from the Santa Fe Springs 3 Parole Unit. The parolee's whereabouts is currently unknown. A multi-agency task force is attempting to locate her.
January 23 - A parolee from the Pasadena 2 Parole Unit, who was wanted on 12 counts of motor vehicle burglary, barricaded himself in a residence. The home became the sight of a nearly 11-hour stand-off that ended when Special Weapons and Tactics officers stormed the home.
January 16 - A parolee-at-large from the Marysville Parole Unit got involved in an argument outside a North Sacrament restaurant. The parolee-at-large retrieved a gun from his vehicle, shot the victim in the stomach and fled the area. The victim survived the attack and identified the parolee-at-large. The parolee-at-large was arrested by Yuba City police.
January 15 - A parolee from the Stockton Parole Unit 1, a parolee from the Stockton Parole Unit 4 and a third man were arrested by Stockton police for suspicion of felons in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Stockton police responded to reports of a suspicious car. Upon arrival, officer found the three men sitting in the car. A search of the vehicle revealed ski masks, gloves and loaded Ruger semiautomatic handgun and a loaded .38-caliber handgun. All three men were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
January 15 - A parolee from the Oroville Parole Unit was arrested and charged with murder stemming from a July 12, 2008 incident. The victim in the incident was shot during an argument in a parking lot at a convenience store.
January 15 - A Fresno Parole Unit 2 parolee and a passenger were observed by police in a stolen vehicle. After a vehicle pursuit, an altercation between the parolee and officers occurred. During the altercation, the parolee was shot.
January 15 - A Sac Metro Parole Unit 2 parolee and two other individuals were arrested and charged with murder. In June 2001, the three individuals beat a man who slipped into a coma and died.
January 14 - Visalia police, accompanied by parolee officers, served a search warrant at an apartment. Two parolees from the Visalia 1 Parole Unit were found inside the apartment. During the search officers discovered methamphetamine, money, and suspected drug paraphernalia.
January 14 - An Oroville Parole Unit parolee and another individual were arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon.
January 14 - A parolee-at-large from the Victorville Parole Unit, who was wanted in the New Years Day shooting of a Rialto man, was spotted by police in Apple Valley. The parolee-at-large fled but was eventually cornered; a Taser was used to overcome his resistance.
January 13 - A parolee from the Exposition Park 2 Parole Unit was arrested for firing several shots at a vehicle. One of the shots hit and killed a 4-year-old boy who was walking with his sister.
January 13 - A parolee-at-large from the Fairfield Parole Unit 1 was arrested for an assault and attempted robbery with a firearm. The parolee-at-large punched a teenager in the face and demanded the teenager's iPOD. A woman, who observed the assault, came to the teenager's aid. The parolee-at-large then pulled out a gun and fired approximately three shots, striking the woman in her leg. The parolee-at-large fled the scene but was apprehended the following day.
January 12 - An Oroville Parole Unit parolee and an accomplice were arrested by police following a drive-by shooting into a Biggs residence that wounded a 46-year-old woman. Police called the assault a gang-related shooting that hit the wrong target.
January 11 - An off duty Santa Cruz parole agent was approached by two white males, who were noticeably intoxicated and belligerent, and started challenging the parole agent and making derogatory comments. The agent's Peace Officer status was made known and the two males were asked to return to their apartment. When the agent started to walk away while calling 911, the two males jumped and attacked the agent from behind. The agent engaged in self-defense until the San Jose police arrived and arrested the assailants. One of the assailants was identified as a second striker parolee of the San Jose 1 Parole Unit; the other was a non-parolee. The agent was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries to the shoulders and wrist.
January 11 - A parolee form the Bakersfield 6 Parole Unit fled from Bakersfield police when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle. The parolee refused to yield and crashed into trees, a street sign and a cinder block wall. The parolee was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
January 11 - A San Leandro Parole Unit parolee-at-large robbed a massage parlor in San Rafael, and kidnapped one of the employees. The parolee-at-large and an accomplice wielded a handgun and robbed three female employees of cash and then kidnapped an employee.
January 11 - A parolee from the Concord 2 Parole Unit was arrested after he led police on an hour-log pursuit across two counties. Vallejo police responded to an alarm at an AT&T store when officers noticed a vehicle leaving the scene. The parolee then sped off and the pursuit began. The parolee was eventually arrest and a Taser was used to overcome his resistance.
January 9 - A Visalia 1 Parole Unit parolee and another male were arrested for burglary, possession of burglary tools and stolen property.
January 9 - A parolee from the San Fernando Valley 4 Parole Unit was arrested after he raped a woman he is legally separated from. The parolee and the woman got into an argument and he sexually assaulted her.
January 7 - An Oakland 2 Parole Unit parolee was arrested for prowling and possession of burglary tools. The parolee admitted to detectives that he was looking to commit a burglary.
January 6 - A parolee from the Ceres Parole Unit was charged in the 2007 slaying of an Antioch resident who died after being punched during a robbery. The parolee has been held at the Contra Costa County Jail since December, when he was arrested for a similar robbery during which he punched a Contra Costa County woman who survived her attack.
January 5 - A Stockton 4 Parole Unit parolee-at-large was arrested for kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon as well as numerous other felonies and misdemeanors. A Stockton police officer conducted a stop of a vehicle being driven by the parolee-at-large. As the officer grabbed on to the parolee-at-large, he started to drive off dragging the officer who let go to avoid being run over by the vehicle. The parolee-at-large then led officers in a high-speed pursuit that lasted 17 minutes, and reached speeds of 100 miles per hour. The parolee-at-large eventually drove into a dead end road and was stopped by police who took him and a female passenger into custody. It was later determined that the female was a victim of a kidnapping.
January 5 - A parolee from the Woodland Parole Unit was one of two men arrested for possession of property that had been stolen from unlocked vehicles.
January 5 - One parolee from the El Cajon 3 Parole Unit, one parolee from the Chula Vista 3 Parole Unit, and a discharged parolee are facing murder and other charges stemming from the December 26, 2008, stabbing of two men. One of the men died at the scene and the other victim remains hospitalized in critical condition. The two parolee are being held at the San Diego County Jail. The discharged parolee is being sought by authorities.
January 5 - A parolee-at-large from the Red Bluff 1 Parole Unit was stabbed by several people in a gang-related assault. The parolee-at-large was transported to a local hospital where his condition was listed as stable.
January 4 - A parolee from the Sacramento Metro 4 Parole Unit and two accomplices were arrested for a robbery that occurred near the Red Hawk Casino. The parolee and his accomplices slugged, robbed, and threatened to shoot a 20-year0old man whose vehicle had broken down after he left the casino.
January 4 - A Woodland Parole Unit parolee was found dead inside his ex-wife's apartment after he exchanged gunfire with Woodland police. The parolee had a special condition of parole that prohibited contact with his ex-wife, but police believed he had been stalking his ex-wife and breaking into her apartment. Officers responded to a stalking report and discovered the parolee hiding in the ex-wife's apartment. The parolee was fatally wounded after exchanging fire with officers.
January 3 - A parolee from the Visalia 1 Parole Unit was arrested after he held his mother captive, in her mobile home, from December 25, 2008 through January 3, 2009. The parolee's mother reported that he had told her he would assault any police officer with a knife should they come to arrest him. On January 3, his mother persuaded him to let her go shopping. The parolee's mother reported the incident to police and at officers' direction, she called the parolee requesting his help. The parolee walked to the nearby shopping center, where he was arrested without incident. A 12-inch kitchen knife, suspected to be the parolee's intended weapon, was found by the mobile home's front door. The parolee is being held at the Tulare County Jail.

December 2008
December 28 – A Fresno Parole Unit 5 parolee was arrested for possession of stolen property, assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, resisting an officer through violence and fleeing from officers with reckless abandon. The parolee was observed stealing from mailboxes. When officers responded to the area, the parolee led officers on a car chase before spinning out in an attempt to avoid spike strips laid by officers. The parolee rammed his vehicle into a police car in attempt to continue his flight.
December 26 – A Ceres Parole Unit parolee was arrested by Modesto police on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, auto theft and parole violations. Officers were on an unrelated call, when contacted by the victim that a person had attacked and robbed them. As officers attempted to help the victim, the parolee tried to run down officers in a stolen vehicle. The officers fired their weapons at the parolee. Subsequently, the parolee crashed the vehicle he was driving and fled on foot. After a short chase, the parolee was arrested.
December 23 – A parolee from the San Luis Obispo Parole Unit was arrested in Nipomo on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly beat a person and used his car to run over another. The parolee left the area but was later arrested after resisting arrest.
December 21 – Monterey Park police arrested five people at an apartment full of what authorities believe was stolen property, including flat-screen TVs, computers and jewelry. A parolee from the Pasadena 1 Parole Unit, was one of those arrested.
December 19 – A parole was arrested in Fresno for stealing two pickup trucks from the garage of a residence earlier that morning in Madera.
December 19 – A parolee from the Gold Country Parole Unit was arrested for allegedly hitting his girlfriend with a stick before dragging her down a flight of stairs. The parolee was arrested without resistance and booked into El Dorado County Jail.
December 18 – A San Leandro Parole Unit parolee was arrested by Oakland police for a November 14, 2008 murder. A male victim was shot in the head in an intersection in the city of Oakland. The victim was transported to the hospital were he later died.
December 17 – A parolee-at-large from Sac Metro Unit 3 was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Las Vegas. The parolee-at-large was wanted by Sacramento Police for failing to register as a sex offender and for a parole violation.
December 16 – While conducting a parole search for a parolee-at-large from the Fresno 4 Parole Unit, police arrested three men. While conducting the search at a Fresno apartment police seized five pounds of cooked methamphetamine worth $120,000, a handgun and two assault rifles. Additionally, police discovered a drug lab in the apartment. Five children, ages 6 months to 6 years, who were in the apartment were treated for exposure to the chemicals used to make methamphetamine. The parole-at-large was not at the residence at the time of the search, but was later arrested at another Fresno residence.
December 15 – A Lake County sheriff's deputy responded to the parking lot of the Robinson Rancheria Resort in Nice, Ca. for a report of an intoxicated man attempting to leave in his vehicle. Upon arrival the sheriff found an Ukiah Parole Unit parolee in his vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed two suspicious homemade explosive devices wrapped in tape. The parolee was arrested for felony possession of a destructive device and felony violation of parole.
December 15 – A Sacramento North Parole Unit parolee-at-large was observed by Sacramento police operating a Ford Mustang, who then attempted to pull him over. The parolee-at-large failed to stop and began accelerating to speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour in and throughout residential neighborhoods. Subsequently, the parolee-a-large failed to properly negotiate a turn and ran his vehicle into the yard of a residence, causing the gas main to break. The parolee-at-large was taken into custody.
December 15 – A Fresno police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a parolee from the Fresno Parole Unit 4. The parolee failed to comply and a vehicle pursuit ensued. A Sky Watch helicopter also participated in the pursuit. The parolee ran a red light and struck a moving vehicle. The parolee was arrested and charged with felony evading police, driving under the influence and felony hit and run.
December 12 – A multi-agency taskforce arrested a Pasadena 2 Parole Unit parolee for the August 2, 2008, murder of an off-duty Los Angles County Sheriff's Deputy. The deputy was killed in a drive-by shooting as he was leaving his parent's home for work at the Men's Central Jail. According to authorities, someone from inside a four-door vehicle fired several rounds, striking the deputy in the head twice. The investigation lead authorities to the identification of the parolee as the shooter.
December 11 – A Humboldt County Sheriff's deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a parolee-at-large from the Eureka Parole Unit. The parolee-at-large failed to yield, and a high-speed chase ensued through several towns. The parolee-at-large was finally apprehended by CHP. The parolee-at-large attempted to drive away, so officers tasered the parolee-at-large for resisting arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed 50.2 grams of methamphetamine.
December 11 – A parolee from the Santa Ana 1 parole Unit was arrested after a strong-arm robbery at a hair salon. The parolee attacked a female employee and stole a bank deposit bag containing the day's receipts. Local police located the parolee hiding behind a dumpster and arrested him without incident. Numerous sales receipts from the hair salon, as well as a Wells Fargo deposit bag, containing checks and an undetermined amount of money was recovered. The parolee was positively identified as the robber by the victim and witnesses.
December 10 – A parolee from the Richmond Parole Unit was arrested by San Francisco police after a cold case DNA match linked him to the 1991 slaying of a woman who was raped and stabbed in her home. The parolee, a second striker, was released to parole on October 14, 2008.
December 9 – A parolee-at-large from the Escondido 2 Parole Unit was arrested by Chula Vista police after a vehicle stop. The parolee-at-large, a passenger, exited the vehicle and pointed a shotgun at the patrol car and then fled the scene. Later the parolee-at-large was spotted, arrested, and booked into the Chula Vista Police Jail. The driver of the vehicle, a parolee, was also arrested.
December 8 – A Concord 2 Parole Unit parolee-at-large was located and arrested by the US Marshall, Fugitive Task Force. The parolee-at-large was wanted on suspected offenses including burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, home invasions, and carjacking.
December 8 – A San Gabriel Valley 3 Parole Unit parolee was arrested after crashing a stolen vehicle. Officers spotted the stolen vehicle and tried to pull it over. The parolee accelerated onto a freeway, where he collided with two cars. One of the other drivers was hospitalized with minor injuries. The parolee then fled on foot and jumped over an embankment. The parolee continued to resist arrest and a Taser was used to take the parolee into custody.
December 7 – Porterville police officers responded to a domestic violence call. When officers arrived at the residence they contacted a parolee-at-large from the Visalia 1 parole Unit, who was prohibited from residing at the residence. The parolee-at-large became combative and fled when officers tried to arrest him, leading officers on a foot chase. The parolee-at-large was caught by an officer and his K-9 partner.
December 5 – A parolee-at-large from the Bakersfield 6 Parole Unit was arrested after a Special Weapons and Tactics Team standoff. The parolee-at-large who had been seen with a .357 handgun, barricaded himself in a residence after deputies attempted to arrest him. Negotiators convinced him to surrender and he was arrested.
December 4 – When in the Humboldt County jail, a parolee from the Eureka Parole Unit approached a man and stabbed him six times with a 7-inch blade made from a sharpened rod. The parolee was booked for attempted murder and possession of a weapon in jail. The parolee was originally booked into the jail on November 13 for evading a peace office.
December 4 – A parolee from the Redding 1 Parole Unit pleaded guilty of the September 5, 2008, battery of a man. The parolee was one of a group of six men who confronted and assaulted the victim beating him so severely that they nearly tore off the victim's ear.
December 4 – A parolee from the Fairfield Parole Unit 1 was one of six arrested by Fairfield police during a warrant search of a residence. During the search of the residence, officer's located methamphetamine packaged for sale along with narcotic paraphernalia, cocaine, a handgun, a large club, an explosive device and stolen property.
December 3 – A parolee from the El Monte 3 Parole Unite was arrested after a failed attempt to burglarize a home. The parolee was in the process of committing the residential burglary when he was interrupted by the owner. The parolee fled but was later spotted by a sheriff's helicopter in a nearby yard. The parolee was arrested and booked into the Wittier Jail.
December 1 – A Stockton 3 Parole Unit parolee was arrested for possession of stolen credit cards from a burglary. Along with stolen credit cards officers located over 100 blank car keys, which led to other arrests and the recovery of more than $10,000 worth of equipment that had been stolen from an abandoned auto dealership.

November 28 - A parolee-at-large from the Fresno 7 Parole Unit was arrested by the Mohave County sheriff's deputies for a Fresno murder warrant in connection with the November 20, 2008 shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead and his father injured. At the time of his arrest the parolee-at-large was driving a stolen pickup.
November 25 - An Indio Parole Unit parolee was arrested as a suspect in a November 22, 2008 carjacking of a 90-year-old Cathedral City woman and as a suspect in a November 24, 2008 drive-by shooting that occurred in the city of Oxnard.
November 20 - A Fresno 7 Parole Unit parolee shot two males, killing one and critically injuring the other. The parolee's parole has been suspended and his whereabouts are currently unknown.
November 18 - Tehama County Sheriffs Deputies responded to an indecent exposure call. A Red Bluff Parole Unit parolee was tracked and arrested for indecent exposure. GPS tracking software was used to locate and identify the parolee as the suspect. Also, the parolee was identified as having been involved in an indecent exposure incident that occurred the previous day.
November 18 - Berkeley police arrest a parolee from the Berkeley Parole Unit 1, for the September 18, 2008 murders of a 23-year-old man and 42-year-old man. Officers found the 23-year-old mortally wounded along a curbside and found the other victim nearby slumped over the steering wheel of a wrecked vehicle. The parolee who was already in custody for the October 9, 2008 parole violation and weapon possession charge (a Semi-Automatic .357) remains at Santa Rita County Jail. Authorities have determined that the Semi-Automatic gun, possessed by the parolee, as the weapon used in the murders.
November 18 - A parolee from Fresno Parole Unit 3 and a parolee from Fresno Parole Unit 6 were arrested by Fresno Police officers after being contacted by officer to arrange a drug transaction. During the transaction, one of the parolees fled the scene. As officer pursued, the parolee turned and pointed a gun in their direction. An officer fired three rounds striking the parolee in the midsection. The parolee was found in possession of a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine or cocaine. The gun was also located. He was taken into custody on multiple violations including brandishing a firearm and drug sales. The parolee is currently detained at the Community Regional Medical Center in serious condition. The other parolee is being held at the Fresno County Jail.
November 17 - Fresno police arrested two parolees from the Fresno 6 Parole Unit on charges of selling methamphetamine. The two parolees along with a non-parolee were arrested after police confiscated a half-ounce of methamphetamine packaged for sale, a loaded .25-caliber handgun and ammunition from the vehicle. Both parolees are being held at the Fresno County Jail.
November 16 - A parolee from the San Jose Parole Unit 4 was identified and arrested for kidnapping and raping a 10-year-old female in the City of San Jose. The victim was taken to an apartment and sexually assaulted. The parolee is currently being held at Santa Clara County Jail pending kidnapping, false imprisonment, sex with a minor and parole violations.
November 15 - A parolee from Sacramento-Natomas Parole Unit was arrested for suspicion of burglary and petty theft with priors. Citrus Heights Police responded to a call of a prowler in the area. Officers determined that several vehicles in the area had been entered. The parolee was found nearby with stolen property in his vehicle.
November 14 - Division of Adult Parole Operations headquarters received information that on October 25, 2008 a sex offender parolee from the Exposition Park 2 Parole Unit was arrested by San Francisco police for sexual battery and failure to register as a sex offender. The parolee sexually assaulted a 35-year-old female in San Francisco. The parolee was released to parole on September 30, 2008 from the California Medical Facility and failed to report to his assigned parole unit. Parole was suspended effective October 1, 2008 and his whereabouts were unknown until his arrest on October 25, 2008.
November 14 - A Hayward Parole Unit parolee led police in a car chase from Newark to Fremont where the vehicle was abandoned. A Newark police search dog and a CHP helicopter aided Fremont officers in searching for the parolee. The abandoned vehicle had been reported stolen on October 31, 2008.
November 11 - A discharged sex offender parolee, previously assigned to the Fresno 1 Parole Unit was arrested after a violent outburst directed at reporters and camera crews. Reporters tracked down the discharged parolee who was discharged from parole on August 20, 2008 but as been on the move without registering. The discharged parolee had to be restrained from attacking reporters with a box cutter. The parolee pushed some people, threw down a camera and threatened to cut throats. No one was injured during the attack. The discharged parolee was arrested and booked into jail on charges of making felony criminal threats.
November 11 - A parolee-at-large from the Sacramento Metro 2 Parole Unit was arrested by Sacramento police. Police are investigating whether the parolee-at-large is the same person sought by Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies in connection with an October 22 robbery that shut down a South Sacramento shopping center for hours, as Special Weapons and Tactics Teams combed the stores looking for him. The parolee-at-large was arrested for resisting or obstructing a peace officer and is currently at the Sacramento County Jail.
November 11 - An Orange 1 Parole Unit parolee-at-large was arrested by Anaheim police as a suspect in 19 vending truck armed robberies that took place from September 6, 2008 to November 9, 2008. The parolee-at-large had been deported to Mexico. The Division of Adult Parole Operations became aware of his presence in the U.S. after the parolee-at-large appeared in Orange County Superior Court on June 12, 2008 to answer a citation for driving without a license and jaywalking, the charges were dismissed. A warrant was issued by the Board of Parole Hearings suspending the parolee-at-large's parole and his whereabouts where known until his arrest.
November 8 - A parolee from the Sacramento Metro 4 Parole Unit was fatally shot during a home invasion robbery. The parolee, along with another suspect, tried to rob the resident of a Colonial Heights home. The resident, who knew both robbers, used his gun and fired a shot, fatally wounding the parolee. The other robber fled. Police stated that the resident acted in self-defense.
November 5 - A Concord 1 Parole Unit parolee was arrested for shooting his cousin in the neck. On November 2, 2008 Pittsburg police officers responded to a vehicle crash and found the victim injured in his car, which crashed into three parked vehicles. Police report that the parolee shot into the victim's car. The parolee was arrested and is being held at the Martinez County Jail.
November 5 - A Fresno 4 Parole Unit parolee was arrested and charged with two bank robberies. The parolee was released to parole in July 2008 after serving 14 years in prison for bank robbery. Police report that in both robberies, the parolee entered the same bank and gave a teller a note demanding money, then walked out. After the November 5 robbery the parolee was located, arrested and admitted to the robberies.
November 4 - A parolee-at-large of the Fairfield 1 Parole Unit was arrested in connection with an October 20, 2008 fatal hit and run crash in the City of Vallejo. The parolee-at-large was identified as the driver of a vehicle that ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle. The other vehicle's driver suffered major injuries and later died. The parolee-at-large and a passenger fled on foot. The parolee-at-large was arrested in the city of Sacramento.
November 4 - Riverside County Sheriff's Department received a telephone call regarding shots fired in the city of Coachella. Responding deputies observed a male, identified as a parolee, of the Indio Parole Unit, running down the street and entering a residence. The parolee's father telephoned the Agent of Record and informed him that the parolee was in a barricade situation at his girlfriend's home. A perimeter was set up and the sheriff's department obtained a search warrant for the residence. Around noon the parolee's pregnant girlfriend opened the window and yelled "everything is ok and no one is hurt." Shortly after 4:00 p.m. the parolee surrendered and was arrested.
November 3 - A parolee from the San Diego 1 Parole Unit, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and use of a knife that caused great bodily injury in the February 4, 2007 attack on a couple. The couple were walking down a street when the parolee ran up and began stabbing them, causing severe injuries. The parolee sat on a curb after stabbing the couple and watched his victims as they bled. At one point, the parolee told police the knife "went in like butter." The parolee is being held at the San Diego County Jail pending transfer to state prison.
September 2008
September 11 - A parolee from Rialto stabbed and killed another parolee at their residence of record, God Cares Sober Living in the city of Rialto. The parolee showed up at the residential living facility while under the influence of alcohol. The parolee got into an argument and fought with the victim parolee. Other residents broke up the fight. The assailant parolee then went to the kitchen grabbed a knife and proceeded to fatally stab the victim. Police responded and arrested the parolee.
September 11 - Stockton Parole Gang Unit conducted compliance searches on approximately 25 known gang members and attempted to locate parolees-at-large in the San Joaquin County. A total of 11 arrests were made, including eight parolees. The operation resulted in the seizure of an AK-47 machine gun, a sawed off shotgun, numerous items of gang paraphernalia, as well as methamphetamine, marijuana, and the discovery of a possible automobile "chop shop", which is under further investigation.
September 10 - A San Gabriel Valley 2 parolee and a Santa Fe Springs 2 parolee were arrested as suspects in an early-morning burglary spree. Sheriff's deputies tried to pull over the parolees who were in a stolen van. The van sped away from deputies, and the parolees eventually abandoned the van and fled on foot. Both parolees were tracked down and arrested.
September 9 - A Marysville parolee was one of four people arrested at suspected drug house located across the street from a high school. Officers discovered drugs, drug sales paraphernalia, and stolen property.
September 8 - A Visalia parolee was arrested on suspicion of selling methamphetamine. Tulare County Sheriff's detectives conducted a parole compliance search of the residence of record, which led to the discovery of a 12-guage shotgun, a box of 12-gauge shotgun shells, a .22 caliber rifle and a digital weight scale.
September 8 - A San Luis Obispo parolee and two other men were in a vehicle that was stopped by Santa Maria Police. While searching the vehicle a .380 caliber handgun, suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were discovered. All three men were arrested. Based on a murder that occurred on September 1, 2008, which involved a .380 caliber weapon; the parolee and the two men were booked on a murder charge.
September 6 - A parole from the Fairfield Parole Unit was identified as the man killed during a residential burglary. A Vacaville resident called 911 to report he had been awakened by the sounds of people in his home. The resident armed himself and fatally shot the parolee. The resident was not injured.
September 5 - Oakland Parole was informed that a parolee was identified as the suspect in a Marin County gas station burglary. Parole agents responded to the parolee's residence of record. A parole compliance search led to the discovery of: four loaded firearms, two Tech 9 firearms, 1-1/2 pounds of marijuana, 38 Ecstasy pills and $22,890.00. The parolee was arrested and booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail.
September 5 - San Jose 3 Parole Unit received information that a parolee was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in the City of East Palo Alto. The parolee was transported to a hospital. A DAPO parole agent, who was in the area conducting routine field work, witnessed the shooting. DAPO was also informed that the parolee is a suspect in a Menlo Park bank robbery. A parole compliance search of the parolee's residence of record led to the discovery of clothing and other articles, which were possibly used during the bank robbery.
September 4 - A parolee-at-large from the Richmond Parole Unit, was arrested by police for his role in a murder that occurred on August 9, 2008. The parolee-at-large and his twin brother were among a carload of men who raised a ruckus at a reception that ended in the shooting death of a 50-year-old male. On September 4, police spotted the brothers and chased them, eventually arresting the parolee-at-large, who has been charged with accessory to murder.
September 3 - A North Sacramento parolee, along with a second suspect, was arrested for a series of rooftop burglaries. A Placer County Sheriff's Detective stated that the burglary ring, which specialized in entering through roofs or back doors of businesses and then cutting the electricity, may be responsible for as many as 40 break-ins.
September 2 - A parolee from the Visalia 1 Parole Unit was arrested after police conducted a parole compliance search at her residence. Police reported that materials were found pertaining to an identity theft case which "will involve over 100 victims."
August 2008
August 25 - A parolee from the Red Bluff parole unit, carjacked a vehicle after hitting the female driver with a crow bar. The victim was taken to a medical center where she was hospitalized. The parolee remained at large until August 27 when he was arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail.
August 15 - A gang member parolee from Bakersfield approached two males, brandished a firearm, and demanded their cell phones and wallets, pistol whipped one of the males and fled in the victim's vehicle. The parolee later abandoned that vehicle. Later in a separate incident, the parolee shot a male and female victim. The male suffered a through and through wound to his torso, the female suffered multiple bullet strikes, which severed her spine. She is currently at a local hospital in critical condition. The parolee was arrested and has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of firearm, gang member committing a felony with use of a firearm, robbery, carjacking and parole violations.
August 14 - A Concord parolee was arrested by the Pittsburg Police for accessory to murder. Investigators believe the arrested parolee was present when a shooting occurred inside a home. The victim of the murder was recently discharged from prison. The police are also looking for a parole-at-large that is also believed to have been present during the murder.
August 11 - A Sacramento Florin parolee shot at two CHP officers in South Sacramento; the officers were not hit. The parolee was identified as the driver of a white Cadillac carrying three passengers that crashed into a fence at a home after being pursued by a CHP unit. The parolee fled through the residence's backyard and fired shots at the pursuing CHP officers. The parolee driving the vehicle, is the registered owner, and his driver's license was found in the back yard of the home where the crash occurred. The parolee was later located and arrested by Sacramento Police.
August 11 - A parolee from the Fontana Parole Unit was shot and killed after he got into an argument with two men outside his apartment. Police are investigating the shooting.
August 10 - A deputy observed the parolee-at-large selling methamphetamine. As he was approached by a deputy, the parolee-at-large pulled a gun from his pants and dropped it. The parolee-at-large fled but was eventually located and arrested.
August 9 - A Concord parolee was arrested in Pittsburg after he robbed an Antioch Wells Fargo branch. The parolee and two accomplices robbed an Antioch bank and lead police in a high-speed chase that ended in a shootout in the City of Pittsburg. The parolee and his accomplices sped away from the bank in a stolen SUV. Police located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. One of the robbers shot at officers striking the patrol car. Police returned fire and hit the get away vehicle as it sped into the City of Pittsburg. Pittsburg police used a spike strip to flatten one of the SUV's tires, but the vehicle continued on, exited the freeway and crashed into a power pole. The parolee and his accomplices fled into an auto-detailing shop. At least one of the suspects shot at officers. Three Antioch police officers and three Pittsburg officers returned fire. Two of the three robbers were hit by gunfire. The parolee was arrested, medically cleared and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
August 8 - A parolee was an accessory to a July 15, 2008 murder that happened in the City of Richmond. According to the information received, the parolee was in a park with a group of people when another individual arrived, pulled out a gun and shot one of the group members to death. The parolee pointed out the victim to the shooter. At the time of the incident the parolee's parole had been suspended effective November 2007, and she was a Controlled Services supervision level parolee-at-large.
August 8 - The Madera Gang Task force conducted a parole compliance search at a parolee's residence of record. An SKS assault rifle with a detachable 20 round magazine and a 12-inch bayonet were located in the parolee's bedroom.
August 7 - A Fresno parolee carjacked a victim. Police were informed that the parole and an unknown accomplice used a shotgun to carjack the victim's vehicle as the victim arrived home and was driving into the garage. A short time later, police spotted the carjacked vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, a pursuit ensured. The parolee eventually abandoned the vehicle and fled; he was located by police canine and arrested.
August 7 - A parolee was arrested in connection with the August 4, 2008, slaying of a 19-year-old who was found shot at an Alameda public housing complex.
August 1 - Two Oakland police officers witnessed a man standing on a street acting suspicious. As officers attempted to talk with the man, later identified as a parolee, he walked away from them and then pulled a handgun from his waistband and put it into the wheel well of a parked car. Officers ordered the parolee to place his hands in the air. The parolee reached for the handgun, causing the officer to fire one shot hitting the parolee in the abdomen. A loaded handgun was recovered. The parolee is in custody with a parole hold and is expected to recover from his injuries.
August 1 - Two parole agents observed two Oakland police officers, with weapons drawn, attempting to take a subject into custody. The subject was later identified as a former High Risk Sex Offender. The former parolee has a chrome colored two foot long piece of metal that was consistent with a crowbar in his right hand and a two foot long gray steel piece of rebar in his left hand and was swinging the two metal pipes at the officers and refusing to surrender. The agents working in conjunction with the officers succeeded in corning the former parolee. One parole agent was able to grab the crowbar as the other agent used his upper body weight to force the parolee to the ground. The former parolee was arrested.
July 2008
July 31 - A parolee was found lying on a street suffering from gun shot wounds. The parolee died as a result of his injuries.
July 29 - A parolee was arrested after a stand off with police. The parolee was involved in a domestic dispute and a 911 call was made. As police responded, the parolee fired a shot inside his house and then held a woman at gunpoint. A stand off took place; police eventually persuaded him to surrender and no one was injured.
July 29 - A parolee was arrested after a high-speed pursuit that encompassed the highway and city streets, even driving southbound on a northbound freeway. The parolee eventually became involved in a collision that seriously injured a family. After the crash, the parole fled on foot, but was captured and arrested.
July 28 - PACT and Oakland Police, working on a tip, assembled an arrest team and proceeded to a residence. Upon knocking on the front door, radio traffic indicted that two males were exiting the residence's rear window armed with weapons. One subject later identified as a parolee fled the scene. The second subject, also later identified as a parolee, pointed a firearm at police. A police officer fired a single round but missed the parolee who then surrendered. A search of the residence led to the discovery of two loaded handguns, a loaded assault rifle with a 30 round clip and ammunition. Both parolees were arrested.
July 28 - A parolee was arrested after he crashed his vehicle into a parked big rig trailer. The parolee fled after crashing his vehicle but was chased down by three employees of a local business and held until police arrived. The parolee fought with the three men and caused minor injury to one of them.
July 25 - A parolee-at-large stabbed a 19-year-old victim at a house party. The parolee-at-large subsequently was beaten and stabbed. The assailant and the victim were taken to the hospital where their conditions are described as grave.
July 24 - A parolee-at-large was arrested in the shooting death of an Antioch man. Police arrested the parole-at-large after a short stand off.
July 24 - A parolee was driving a stolen vehicle with his grandmother, his girlfriend and her 3-and 4-year-old daughters as passengers, when an officer attempted to make a vehicle stop. The parolee drove onto the interstate and fled reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The parolee eventually stopped and surrendered.
July 24 - A parolee was visiting an acquaintance when he got into an argument and shot a semi automatic handgun into a couch and then held the acquaintance's head and threatened to kill him. The parolee then beat the victim and fled the residence. The parolee is currently at large.
July 24 - An agent was informed that there was evidence that a parolee was the perpetrator of sexual assault on a minor. The agent located the parolee using Veri-Tracks GPS. Officers were dispatched to the area and arrested the parolee.
July 23 - A parolee was arrested after he tried to slide his cell phone under the skirt of a woman at a local store. The victim confronted the parolee and he ran out of the store. A store clerk heard the commotion and wrote down his license plate number as the parolee left the area. After the story ran in the local paper another woman came forward and claimed that the parolee did the same thing to her back in March of this year. The parolee was arrested at his home.
July 22 - A parolee was shot when unknown suspects shot at his vehicle hitting it 11 times. The parolee was shot twice but is expected to survive. Police believe the shooting was gang related.
July 16 - A parolee was involved in a fight at a nightclub. Later, in the early morning hours of July 17, the victim was injured in a drive-by shooting. The parolee was identified as the shooter and arrested.
July 16 - The bodies of a woman and two children were found in an Oroville apartment. Later that day the suspected shooter, a parolee-at-large was found dead of an apparent self inflicted shotgun wound.
July 14 - A parolee assaulted his wife and was arrested at his residence. Oakland police forced entry into the residence where they found an eight inch knife between the cushions of a couch and a bat by the door in the bedroom where the parolee was located.
July 11 - Police attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The vehicle fled and CHP took over the chase when the parolee-at-large sped onto the highway. CHP officers used a spike strip to puncture the tires of the stolen vehicle. The vehicle's tires blew and the vehicle came to a stop; the parolee-at-large refused to comply with officers' directions and became combative. An officer then shocked the parolee-at-large with a Taser, but he continued to fight and was eventually arrested with the help of a K-9 deputy.
July 7 - A parolee-at-large shot his girlfriend's husband. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated for wounds to his leg, hip and side, and remains in critical condition on a ventilator. The parolee's whereabouts are currently unknown.
July 6 - A parole compliance search at the resident of a parolee led to the discovery of a pipe bomb on his property. The parolee was questioned and claimed he had found the device two months prior and placed it in his yard. The area was evacuated and the bomb squad detonated the device. The parolee was arrested for possession of a destructive device.
July 6 - A parolee, who was intoxicated, crashed a pickup into a home.
July 4 -During a family outing, a parolee buried a five-year-old family friend in the sand and covered his face with sand. The boy choked and stopped breathing. Responding emergency units could not revive the boy and he died. The parolee was arrested and booked into the county jail.
July 3 - Two parolees were arrested after a woman reported that she had escaped from a motel room. Officers responded to the motel and arrest the two parolees. Numerous stolen items, including checks and credit cards, and drug paraphernalia were located in the room.
July 2 - A parolee-at-large attacked a San Bernardino police officer and was subsequently shot by the officer. The parolee fled the area but was located and arrested by responding officers.
July 2 - A parolee robbed two victims a gunpoint. Union City police officers saw the suspect matching his description in a mini-market parking lot. The parolee saw the officers, took the handgun from his waistband and stashed it in the bed of a nearby truck before entering the store. Officers arrested the parolee at gunpoint inside the store. The victims were taken to the store, where they identified the parolee as their attacker.
July 1 - A parolee carjacked an elderly woman and took her vehicle from a department store parking lot. Police spotted the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. The parolee collided with another vehicle and was arrested.
July 1 - A victim had been robbed by a person with a monitoring device on his leg. A parole agent used the GPS Veritracks system to confirm that a parolee was present at the scene of the robbery on the same date and time. The parolee was arrested and admitted to the robbery.
June 2008
June 29 - A parolee killed his girlfriend and was later shot by Madera police. The parolee was treated at a local hospital and then booked into the county jail.
June 27 - A High Control parolee was arrested by Oakland police after he kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old female and her friend. The females were held at gunpoint and eventually taken to a residence where they were forced to strip naked. The parolee physically and sexually assaulted the victims. The following day, the parolee went to work, leaving the victims tied up and held at gunpoint by two other females. One of the victims was able to send a text message to her sister who then contacted police. At the time of the arrest, the parolee was in possession of an Uzi Submachine gun.
June 27 - A parolee stole checks and three puppies (estimated value of $3,330) from his employer, a veterinary clinic. The parolee cashed three of the stolen checks for the amount of $15,000. The parolee remains at large.
June 18 - A parolee and his sister were involved in an argument with the parolee's girlfriend. During the argument, the girlfriend was shot and both the parolee and his sister fled. The victim was rushed to the hospital where she died. The parolee was then apprehended.
June 18 - A parolee is the prime suspect in a homicide. Attempts to locate the parolee failed and the Board of Parole Hearings suspended his parole. The parolee and another man are charged with the brutal beating of a 35-year-old man, who died 10 days after he was found bloody and unconscious next to a drainage canal. The parolee is being sought for criminal homicide, robbery, torture, felony assault, as well as violation of parole.
June 16 - Three parolees were arrested following a high-speed pursuit and standoff in West Covina. The three parolees were members of a Long Beach Asian gang that specializes in burglary, and believed to be responsible for area burglaries.
June 16 - A parolee was arrested for drunken driving that resulted in the deaths of two people and left two critically injured. The parolee was booked under an alias until a parolee agent became aware of the incident and positively identified the parolee. The parolee was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence alcohol/drugs causing bodily injury and driving with a suspended license.
June 16 - A parolee was shot and killed when he answered a knock at his door.
June 16 - A second striker, parolee-at-large was arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Yolo County Sheriff's deputy. The day before the arrest, a deputy radioed that he had been shot. Responding officers found the wounded deputy and an abandoned baby in the parolee-at-large's car. The deputy was taken to the hospital but died.
June 6 - A parolee was arrested for an officer-involved shooting after the parolee and two other men tripped a silent burglar alarm from a check cashing business. Officers responded to the burglary alarm and found at least three suspects exiting the business. After a confrontation occurred, officers shot two suspects.
May 2008
May 25 - A parolee-at-large is suspected of attempting to run over a Hayward police officer during a traffic stop.
May 21 - Three parolees were arrested in connection with the drive-by shooting that critically injured a toddler as he played in front of his west Modesto home. The gunfire missed the intended target and struck the 22-month-old boy.
May 21 - A parolee shot a victim and then barricaded himself in his residence. After several hours, the parolee surrendered and was taken into custody. During the subsequent search, officers discovered a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition and body armor.
May 20 - A parolee-at-large pointed a gun at a person telling them to pay up and then shot the victim in the shoulder. The parolee was arrested and held at the Sacramento County Jail.
May 18 - A parolee was observed shooting into an occupied vehicle in which both occupants were hit. Both victims were taken to a local hospital, treated and released. Vallejo police were contacted and the parolee was arrested.
May 17 - A parolee was in a physical altercation and struck the victim on the head with a metal pipe. The victim died instantly. The following day the parolee was arrested and held at the Yolo County Jail.
May 17 - A parolee angered by a custody dispute with his ex-girlfriend, shot her and two men. The parolee was arrested and held at the Los Angeles Police Department.
May 14 - A parolee-at-large stabbed and killed a 23-year-old man in a gas station parking lot in the city of Fallbrook. The parolee fled but was eventually caught.
May 12 - Two parolees were involved in a fight that resulted in one of the parolees shooting the other parolee five times. The shooter parolee fled on foot and remained at large.
May 12 - A parolee attacked a female victim who was walking her one-year-old daughter. The victim started to scream for help when the parolee began hitting her in the face. As the victim struggled, the parolee put his hand on her throat and tried to pull down her shirt. Two men who heard the screams responded to the scene. The parolee attempted to run away but the men were able to detain the parolee until police arrived.
May 11 - A parolee was identified as the perpetrator of an attack that left another man with major head injuries, a broken nose, a broken jaw and damage to his larynx. The parolee fled the scene but surrendered the following day.
May 5 - A parolee who was released from prison three days prior robbed two victims at knifepoint. The parolee was arrested a short time later and is being held at the San Joaquin County Jail.
April 2008
April 17 - A Parole Agent stopping to allow a pedestrian to cross a Santa Ana street was attacked by this same pedestrian, later identified as a parolee. The parolee dragged the Parole Agent out of the car and began to beat the Agent. The Agent used his OC pepper spray on the parolee but it had no effect. The Parole Agent began to fight for his life but was unable to reach his firearm. During the ensuing attack, the Agent's neck-chain badge was clearly visible, and he identified himself, asking a gathering crowd to call the police. However, the crowd encouraged the attacker. The assault is estimated to have lasted 10 minutes. A single car was sent to the scene as a result of the Santa Ana Police responding to a 911 hang-up. With the Officer's help, the Parole Agent was able to gain control over the parolee who was booked and charged with assault on a Peace Officer. The Parole Agent was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
January 2008
January 23 - After fleeing from police a Parolee-at-large broke into the home of a 56 year old woman. The PAL stripped naked and then held the victim down on a couch. A Stanislaus Sheriff's K-9 unit led officers to the residence where the victim was rescued and the PAL was arrested.
January 21 - A Parolee-at-large was shot and killed by a San Joaquin County Deputy Sheriff. The incident started as a traffic stop. The PAL and another male were found to be armed. During an exchange of gunfire the PAL was killed.
January 16 - A parolee-at-large and his girlfriend were apprehended and found to be in possession of heroin and a loaded 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun.
January 15 - A parolee was sentenced to 29 years to life for the March 2006 robbery and murder of off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Maria Cecilia Rosa. Correctional Officer Manuel Gonzalez was murdered by an inmate on January 10, 2005, and Federal Correctional Officer Scott Williams was murdered by an inmate on April 3, 1997. Both Correctional Officers were on-duty at the time of their murders. The inmates in both cases are still awaiting trial.
January 14 - The San Diego Police report that a parolee and an accomplice were in the process of stealing a truck when the owner heard his vehicle being started and chased after the thieves - jumping into the back of the truck. The Parolee drove erratically trying to throw the owner from the back of the truck eventually losing control hitting a tree and other vehicles before rolling the truck. The owner of the vehicle died from the injuries he sustained. The accomplice was caught at the scene and the parolee was apprehended a short time later. Homicide charges are pending.
January 12 - Two Parolees at-large barricaded themselves inside a Fresno apartment after robbing the inhabitants armed with a handgun and a sawed-off shotgun. The parolees surrendered to local authorities after a lengthy stand-off involving a Fresno SWAT team.
January 12 - A parolee led police on a high-speed chase through the city of Redlands before crashing his pickup truck into several parked cars in a residential area. During a subsequent search of the vehicle by Redlands Police approximately $2000 worth of methamphetamine was found.
January 10 - A parolee was arrested for being involved in the burglary of several Target Department stores. The parolee's was found in possession of over $15,000 of stolen merchandise.
January 10 - The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported that a parolee-at-large (PAL) evaded police for more than two hours after a vehicle chase. The PAL was driving a stolen vehicle which he eventually abandoned in the center divider of I-215. After abandoning the vehicle he ran across the southbound lanes of the highway and hid inside a minivan in a nearby neighborhood.
January 9 - A parolee at-large was apprehended in a Riverside residence in possession of 9mm handgun and a Thompson submachine with loaded magazines. The parolee is a suspect in a homicide that occurred before Christmas where he allegedly shot the victim and the victim's brother.
January 4 - A parolee was arrested by special agents from the Office of Correctional Safety. The parolee was wanted in connection with a woman found raped, beaten and left for dead on a dog-walking trail in the Bay Area. The victim later died.
