February 2011

February 23 – An inmate was attacked by two inmates on the maximum security yard. Staff stopped the attack, but the inmate sustained several puncture wounds and was pronounced dead at a local emergency room.

August 2010

August 29 – 15 black and 10 white inmates began fighting on Facility B recreation yard. They were striking each other with hands and feet. A Code 2 alarm was initiated. Pepper spray and 40 mm rounds were used to stop the fighting. Several uncontrolled weapons were found in the vicinity.

April 2010

April 29 – An officer was stabbed by an inmate inside Housing Unit C-3. The officer was attacked from behind and sustained approximately four puncture wounds to his neck and torso. Responding staff used an expandable baton to stop the attack. A seven-inch metal weapon was recovered from the scene.

February 2010

 

FEBRUARY 7 --  An inmate was getting loud and inciting others as his locker was being searched on Facility E. The sergeant tried to calm the inmate but was unsuccessful. The inmate grabbed and assaulted an officer. The officer did not require medical attention and remained at work. The inmate was rehoused in Ad Seg.
 
FEBRUARY 7 --  On Facility D yard, an inmate battered another inmate, resulting in serious bodily injury. The assaulted inmate was transported to an outside hospital. The combatant inmate was rehoused in Ad Seg. 
 
FEBRUARY 6 --  An inmate was observed by Facility C Visiting staff receiving unknown objects from his female visitor. Staff conducted a search of the inmate and discovered two bindles wrapped in clear plastic. The bindles contained tobacco and $500. The inmate attempted to bribe the officer, stating, “If you don’t bust me, I’ll let you have it and you get paid.” The female visitor submitted to a search, during which five additional bindles of tobacco wrapped in clear plastic were discovered. The inmate was rehoused in Ad Seg. The female visitor was suspended for six months pending further investigation.

February 2008

February 27 - While applying restraints to a disruptive inmate, an Officer was struck in the head. The Officer suffered bruising and swelling and was taken for outside medical evaluation and treatment. The inmate was medically cleared and place in ASU.

February 1 - An inmate exiting the chow hall with a cup of coffee was ordered to pour out the coffee. The inmate refused and began to argue with the officer. The inmate struck the officer in the jaw and face area. A second and third inmate joined the attack. The Sergeant and several officers fought the attackers. A fourth inmate attempting to join the attack was stopped by pepper spray. Responding staff took control of the inmates. Several officers were injured. One Sergeant suffered shoulder, back and neck pain. The first officer suffered an eye injury with blurred vision. A second officer has back and knee pain. A third officer has injuries to his elbows and head. The fourth officer has a sore jaw and bumps to the head. The three inmates were re-housed to the Administrative Segregation Unit.
