The inmate rushed toward the officer and forcefully pushed the officer in her chest, causing the officer to hit a door. As the officer recovered, the inmate rushed toward the officer again. The officer used pepper spray but the inmate continued to strike her. The inmate then attempted to flee the area. A facility Search and Escort officer, who was outside providing coverage for the other officer, witnessed the inmate battery and used her pepper spray to stop the inmate. FEBRUARY 5 --  An officer supervising the morning meal heard one inmate threaten another. The officer summoned Code 1 Response and activated her personal alarm. The officer ordered the inmate to stand up and cuff up. The inmate refused, but suddenly stood up and spat on the officer’s face. Another officer grabbed the inmate’s arm and the assaulted officer grabbed the inmate’s other arm in an attempt to bring the inmate to the ground. The inmate resisted and kept spitting toward the officer. The responding sergeant grabbed the inmate and forced her to walk to the wall while the other officer maintained her hold. The inmate was handcuffed while continuing to spit at the officer.  The officer placed a spit mask on the inmate. During the escort, the inmate continued to resist, attempting to pull away from the escort. The officer was medically evaluated and treated at an area hospital.
