CCPOA NEWS

Labor Update– CCPOA received updated and emergency notices of various changes to be implemented by CDCR.  CCPOA has requested five formal meet and confer negotiations over the impact on Unit 6 members for:

          Conversion of East Reception Center at CIM to a Special Needs Yard

          Close capacity at Desert View MCCF in Adelanto

          Close capacity at Central Valley MCCF in McFarland

          Close Shafter CCF

          Close Taft CCF

As soon as we finalize these negotiations, we will provide you the information .

CalATERS–  On September 7, 2011, CCPOA met with CDCR regarding the implementation of the California Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement System (CalATERS).  An agreement was reached at this Meet and Confer which should alleviate the issues which CCPOA members have had regarding the CalATERS system.  Please go to the website to read the agreement.

Counselors–   CCPOA has also secured an agreement on Realignment & Post Release Community Supervision for Correctional Counselors. This negotiated agreement regarding “Implementation and Training on PC 3450 Post Release Community Release Supervision” now becomes an addendum to the Bargaining Unit 6 Memorandum Of Understanding. This agreement is also on the front page of the website for you to review.

FMLA– CCPOA and the State have reached an agreement on the application of FMLA/CRFA concerning medical certifications.  For more information, please see the agreement posted on our website.

“New First Watch Video” Released  – CCPOA has released another “First Watch” video and it’s been linked to the front page of our website.  This edition contains interviews from Mike Jimenez and Craig Brown, discussing the challenges facing the department as it seeks to implement their criminal justice realignment plan pursuant to AB 109.  It’s about 4 minutes in length and can be found on the right side of the website under the heading, “Featured Videos.”

CDCR NEWS

Texas Seeks CA Inmates– A shuttered prison in Texas is seeking to secure a contract with CDCR to house California inmates as a way to keep locals in the lone Star state from having to pay for an empty prison.  The story, along with a number of other CDCR news items, are linked on our website.

NOTICES

Camps Chapter Meeting–  Will be holding their next statewide meeting on October 13, 2011 from 10am to 6 pm at CCPOA Headquarters.  We have posted a flyer on the website with more details and RSVP information.

MTA Chapter Meeting–  Will be held on October 22, 2011 at the Beach Resort in Monterey from 9-5 pm.  Please see the flyer on the website for more details and RSVP information.

CCPOA State BOD Meeting/Memorial–  The annual “Correctional Peace Officer Memorial” has been scheduled at CCPOA Headquarters for Friday, October 28. The state board of directors meetings will be held that same day and continue on Saturday the 29th.
